Warner Bros. today announced a partnership with Kadokawa Games that will see the two teaming up to bring Suda 51’s Lollipop Chainsaw to western territories in 2012.
This week the world will finally get to experience a strange, hellish and inspired collaboration between Suda 51 (Killer 7, No More Heroes) and Shinji Mikami (Resident Evil, Vanquish), because the pair’s latest action game has arrived in the US, and will become available in Europe, the UK, South Africa and other territories later this week.
Can you handle Shadows of the Damned?
Before answering, we think you should first watch the launch trailer for this hectic journey through a most unique vision of hell:
EA has released three new screenshots for Shadows of the Damned, and featuring a Reaper as well as an Electrodiode Demon they’re sure to creep you out just a little.
If you go into the latest trailer for Shadows of the Damned knowing that Suda 51 and Shinji Mikami are working on this horror-themed action title, then the events portrayed in the video won’t seem too strange – these are the developers behind No More Heroes and Vanquish, after all!
If you’re not familiar with the off-the-cuff craziness that these personalities can bring to any given game, then you’re in for a wild journey of discovery (although the part where living gates hungrily gobble down strawberries is still bizarre):
If you’re looking to “enlarge your Johnson” in EA’s upcoming intense action game Shadows of the Damned, then you’ve come to exactly the right place.
Pardon me?
Just what is Shadows of the Damned from Grasshopper Manufacture and EA?
According to game industry luminary Suda 51, it could be described as a third-person shooter, but as we learn from these highly intriguing (and incredibly bizarre) interviews, Shadows of the Damned is so much more than a mere action game, and includes unique visions of hell, a transforming sidekick (talking skull) character, horrific enemies, Spanish accents and “crazy, unique, extreme bosses.”
Shadows of the Damned is looking to be more and more horrific with every showing, with hideous creatures, eerie environments and disturbing scenes.
So… a dream title for lots of gamers, then?
If it isn’t your idea of a grand time, keep in mind that Capcom and Resident Evil luminary, Shinji Mikami, as well as Suda 51 (of the crazy-awesome Grasshopper Manufacture) are both heading up development on this intense action game, which features a talkative skull on a staff.
Shadows of the Damned is out in early June, and to get your mind in the right space and prepare for its arrival, you can look over these latest screenshots, and terrible (in a good way) pieces of concept art:
EA recently went and announced a set of North American release dates for two of its publishing partner games, namely Alice: Madness Returns from American McGee and Spicy Horse, as well as Shadows of the Damned from Goichi Suda (aka Suda 51) and Grasshopper – both games are scheduled for June!
[Update] Added a kerrazy direct-feed trailer for Codename D below. [End of Update]
During Microsoft’s press conference at Tokyo Game Show, Grasshoper Manufacture’s Goichi Suda, or Suda 51 (No More Heroes, Killer 7) arrived on stage to announce that his studio is working on a Kinect game known as ‘Codename D.’
Even though Suda 51 and Grasshopper Manufacture’s latest action adventure title, No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle, has already released in the US to high acclaim, European Wii owners will only be able to get their hands on the game at the end of April, according to the title’s publisher for the region, Rising Star Games.
Managing director of Rising Star Games, Martin Defries, praised the series for its personality and ability to push boundaries:
A slew of screenshots has exploded onto the ‘net to demonstrate the detail present in the high-definition PS3 and Xbox 360 entries to the No More Heroes series of action adventure games, entitled No More Heroes: Heroes’ Paradise.
First revealed by way of Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu (and scans from the mag), Heroes’ Paradise will appear on Xbox 360 and PS3 in Japan on February 25th, while no further information on a Western release has been announced.
Additionally, the official website for Heroes’ Paradise has been launched, and seems to be teasing new content to arrive on the site on November 27th. Exciting!
Absorb the rest of the newly released screenshots from No More Heroes: Heroes’ Paradise below:
According to scans from Japanese games magazine Famitsu, and reports from Siliconera, an entry to Grasshopper Manufacture and Suda 51’s action game series, No More Heroes, will be appearing on the Xbox 360 and PS3, foregoing the series’ preferred platform (i.e. the Wii) in favour of the higher definition consoles.
Tentatively titled No More Heroes: Heroes’ Paradise, the game will feature new modes, Japanese voice acting (as opposed to English voice acting in the Japanese version) and traditional control input (as opposed to Wii motion controls).
Heroes’ Paradise is said to be releasing on February 25th next year for between 5 040 and 5 800 Yen (between $56 and $65).
There’s no word yet on how this new game will affect the upcoming No More Heroes 2 for the Wii, which is also slated for a release in early 2010.
Pore over larger images of the Famitsu scans revealing No More Heroes: Heroes’ Paradise below:
It’s been announced that No More Heroes 2, the sequel to Suda 51 (Goichi Suda) and Grasshopper Manufacture’s original ultra-violent action adventure game for the Wii, will be distributed by Ubisoft in North America when the game is released early next year, and to celebrate, a trio of new screenshots from the game have been released.
No More Heroes 2 continues the tale of Travis Touchdown after he finds himself at the bottom of the United Assassins Association rankings (after fighting so hard to become No. 1 in the first game), and must now make his way to the top once again, using two swords this time around to fend off multiple bosses and opponents at the same time.
Check out the next two screenshots, as well as an announcement trailer, below:
Headed by the creator of Killer 7 and No More Heroes, Suda 51, this new game is looking very interesting…if a little bizarre, with some ‘great’ localisation included for kicks. If you’re looking for another DS detective game, “The search culminates here.”
Apparently based on a PS2 game that was only ever released in Japan, this Nintendo DS exclusive will be the first chance Western players will get to play as a detective that needs to unravel the mysteries around him (while finding and defusing a bomb) before he goes insane. Some have likened the experience to an old-school adventure game and almost in the same vein as the Phoenix Wright games. The DS touch-screen will be used to solve the ‘thought provoking puzzles.’
Flower Sun and Rain will be available in October on DS.
