If you’re serious about playing fighting games online then you’ll know that many titles are in dire need of a patch to fix issues related to connectivity, character balancing and glitches that players exploit to gain the upper hand. Following last week’s minor patch for Street Fighter X Tekken, Capcom has announced that a more significant one will hit PS3 and Xbox 360 in mid-May.
Every year, Japanese mega publisher Capcom holds the secretive ‘Captivate’ showcase event somewhere in the world. One year it was held in Hawaii. Another year, Captivate took place in Miami.
This year, however, Capcom’s Captivate was held in Rome, one of the most historically rich and culturally amazing cities in the world!
El33tonline’s Editor-in-Chief Lisa was invited to attend Captivate 2012 for a chance to exclusively sample uncontrollably exciting new Capcom games such as Resident Evil 6, DmC and Dragon’s Dogma, as well as bear witness to the first ever reveal and unveiling of Lost Planet 3!

Where other than Captivate 2012 would you see legendary Capcom producer Yoshinori Ono don a promotional martial arts gown and, Blanka figurine in hand, playfully taunt and gibe an audience to get rowdy in anticipation of the next game under his supervision?
Nowhere else, so if you didn’t see it you certainly missed out.
Luckily for us, however, El33tonline’s Lisa was there to capture the madness in photos and text as Ono and Capcom unveiled the cross-platform features of Street Fighter X Tekken for PS Vita.
So is Street Fighter X Tekken Vita merely a port from home consoles? Not at all.
Street Fighter X Tekken Vita was one of the titles that journalists gathered from all over the world were scheduled to see during last week’s Captivate event in Rome. What we didn’t know was that it would turn out to be the rowdiest and one of the most fun presentations of the entire event, due largely to the presence of Street Fighter X Tekken Producer, Yoshinori Ono.
There’s nothing quite like the thrill of entering a new battle in Street Fighter and hearing the announcer proclaim that a new round is about to begin!
Peter’s recent expert review of Street Fighter X Tekken called the game “a feast for technical 2D fighting fans” and said that it is “chock full of innovation and content, and likely to be the best fighting game out this year” - high praise indeed!
So it is with great excitement that we announce the winners of our competition to win Street Fighter X Tekken on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, as well the winner of that incredible Capcom Arcade fight stick!
Who would have thought this day would come to pass? Characters from Street Fighter and Tekken, arch-rivals in the fighting genre, star in a cross-over that will blow your socks off! Street Fighter X Tekken (with the ‘X’ pronounced ‘cross’) is essentially a Street Fighter game that contains Tekken characters, so fans of the Tekken graphic and control style will have to wait for Tekken X Street Fighter.
Meanwhile, Street Fighter X Tekken is a feast for technical 2D fighting fans, chock full of innovation and content, and likely to be the best fighting game out this year.

Street Fighter X Tekken is shaping up to be one of the finest brawlers of this generation. With over forty characters to master and a full suite of robust multiplayer options, this is one game which promises to dominate your play schedule.
Street Fighter X Tekken isn’t out until March but I was lucky enough to get my hands on a preview build this past weekend. The game represents the first half of the collaboration between Street Fighter creators Capcom and Tekken creators Namco, with Capcom first out of the gate with Street Fighter X Tekken while Namco ramps up production on Tekken X Street Fighter.

Street Fighter X Tekken may be a multiplatform release but you’ll get the most content if you buy the game for PS3 or PS Vita. Sony and developer Capcom have struck a deal whereby the PS3 and PS Vita versions of the game will feature five exclusive characters, including Cole MacGrath from inFAMOUS and Sony mascots (in Japan at least) Toro and Kuro.
With PS Vita’s staggered launch beginning this December, Sony has a great opportunity to entice PlayStation 3 owners to the new platform by effectively marketing it as a portable PS3. One of the ways they can drive this message home is by highlighting those titles which appear on both systems with some form of cross-platform support.
The currently known roster of fighters to be included in Capcom’s Street Fighter X Tekken has recently been increased to eighteen with the reveal of an additional four characters, namely Tekken’s Yoshimitsu and Steve, and Street Fighter’s Dhalsim and Poison, all of whom will join the universe-crashing story of the game.
Additionally, Capcom has revealed additional gameplay details and thanks to a translation by Andriasang.com, we’re actually able to make sense of the announcement.

Street Fighter ‘Cross’ Tekken? Street Fighter ‘Ex’ Tekken?
However you pronounce it (I hear it’s ‘Cross’), Street Fighter X Tekken is on its way and due for a rumoured March release in 2012… so we’ve still got a bit of time on the clock.
Until then you can glimpse the latest screenshots to emerge for the extraordinary fighter, which features characters from both the Street Fighter and Tekken franchises in one game. Cole McGrath from the PlayStation-exclusive inFamous franchise will also feature on PlayStation 3 and PS Vita versions of Street Fighter X Tekken.
