If this sounds a bit melodramatic, I have to apologise. See, Star Ocean – The Last Hope is the fourth installment in the Star Ocean saga. And it is a Japanese RPG, cast in the mold of great classics like Final Fantasy. However, the mold has been used a little too much, and some of the healthy goodness of the classics has seeped through the cracks.

Star Ocean: The Last Hope Collector's Edition SmallSquare Enix Ltd. announced today that the limited collector’s edition of Star Ocean: The Last Hope will be releasing alongside the regular version on June 5th across Europe, as well as in Australia and New Zealand, for the Xbox 360.

It’s just been announced that Square Enix’s massive space opera RPG, Star Ocean: The Last Hope, will be releasing on June 5th this year in PAL territories on Xbox 360.

Square Enix Ltd. will be bringing the title to Xbox 360 owners looking for a new epic RPG to sink their teeth into, as president and chief executive officer of the firm, John Yamamoto said:

“We are delighted to bringing this exciting new chapter of the critically acclaimed STAR OCEAN series to Europe and PAL territories. STAR OCEAN: The Last Hope is a stunning and captivating adventure, set to delight both fans of the previous adventures and newcomers alike.”

The game features a four-member party system with team-oriented, real-time combat in a universe set after the events of World War III, as “humanity voyages into the stars in search of a new home… and a second chance.”

 


Star Ocean: The Last HopeSquare Enix has announced that Star Ocean: The Last Hope for the Xbox 360 will be released across PAL territories this spring.

The game is a prequel to the popular role-playing series and the space opera’s debut on the Xbox 360. Set in the aftermath of World War III where humanity has been forced in the stars in search of a new home, the game promises exhilarating combat and CG movies by Visual Works.

Developed by tri-Ace, The Last Hope features four party members, team-orientated combat and the franchise’s popular real-time battle system.

The game will also feature French, German, Spanish and Italian subtitles and menu screens. Check out the latest batch of screens below to see how the game is shaping up.

While the name is about as generic as they come, this latest trailer for Star Ocean: The Last Hope is about as epic as they get, opening with an enormous atomic explosion… and it only gets better after that.

Featuring a mix of in-game and CG sequences, the footage for Square Enix’s latest magnum opus space-opera is looking impressive and gigantic, and impressively gigantic. Watch below:

Star Ocean: The Last Hope releases on Xbox 360 on March 3rd in the US, and a little later in Europe.

 

Square Enix has issued a fresh batch of release dates for several RPG Xbox 360 games headed to Europe and PAL territories.

Infinite Undiscovery is first up on the 5th of September 2008 (2nd of September for the US and 11th of September for Japan) followed by The Last Remnant in winter 2008 and Star Ocean: The Last Hope which will be released globally in 2009.

Developed in collaboration with studio tri-Ace Inc, Infinite Undiscovery is an Xbox 360 exclusive with downloadable content in the pipeline. Star Ocean: The Last Hope was also developed for the Xbox 360 by tri-Ace Inc while The Last Remnant, developed by Square Enix, is headed to the Xbox 360 and PS3 although the Xbox 360 version will arrive on shelves earlier.
