If you thought the singleplayer campaign for StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty was good, then Blizzard will probably be saying “you ain’t seen nothin’ yet” right up until the release of the next entry to the sequel saga, StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm.
From a posting on the Polish Blizzard Entertainment’s website, not only will the studio be bringing “exhibition matches, live raids, competitions and other attractions” to gamescom in Cologne, Germany this year, but attendees will also have the chance to go hands-on with Diablo III and StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm.
With the release of StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty last year, Blizzard Entertainment stomped on our expectations for what a strategy game could be in terms of pure presentation and style, while still retaining gameplay elements that made the first title in the series so popular.
It also crushed our expectations for PC game market performance, selling an incredible three million units in one month around the world.
To get us excited all over again for StarCraft II, Blizzard has more formally unveiled the next entry to the series, StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm, which will this time focus on the story of the Zerg (as opposed to the Terran in Wings of Liberty), and looks to be scheduled for release in 2012.
