EA has been teasing the community about the new downloadable content for SSX for the past week. The publisher released puzzle pieces of a screenshot that’s said to be “jam packed full of classic SSX elements” and has now confirmed that we can expect “some of that classic, retro fun from previous SSX titles to the newest SSX release with our upcoming DLC.”
EA’s FIFA Street took the number one spot on the UK Software Chart this past week, driving last week’s winner, Mass Effect 3, into second place (sales down 74%). It’s been just over four years since the last FIFA Street, but this reboot has outperformed all the other FIFA Street’s opening week’s sales.
After a five year hiatus the SSX series is back with a bang! This is the most ambitious SSX game yet with nine different locations represented, each with their own special dangers. It also takes a slightly different path to previous games, being a little more serious, a lot less forgiving and a little more competition oriented. It’s been such a long time since any decent downhill snowboarding game that SSX’s job of filling the niche wasn’t very difficult, but EA has gone and created a very big game, making other comers unlikely to even appear for a while.

As expected, Mass Effect 3 has trumped all to become the top-selling game in the UK this past week, taking on heavyweights like SSX, FIFA 12, Mario Party 9 and newcomer Street Fighter X Tekken.
Looking back now, one of the buzz words from late February/early March was definitely SSX. Everybody wanted to know who was getting tricky with it…
Thanks to EA South Africa we gave you p33ps the chance to win copies of the game over on our SSX competition page. We asked you “what single touch added to SSX do you think is the most clever?” Thanks to everyone for entering and sharing your love of SSX with us.
We’ve drawn the lucky winners, who will no doubt soon be getting tricky with it. Hit the jump for the full reveal!
EA’s latest action snowboarding game makes an effortless move to the top of Chart Track’s UK Software Sales listing this week after a hiatus of over five years and a debut appearance on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
Let’s get tricky!
This week sees another videogame franchise reboot releasing under the EA umbrella, this time in the form of the uber-popular SSX action snowboarding series of extreme sports titles.
Will you be picking it up this week?
Not a fan of mountains, the cold and white powder (not necessarily exclusive)? Then check out what else is out this week around the world:
After a period of absence that fans would agree is far too long, the SSX series of action snowboarding games returns when it hits PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on March 2nd in South Africa - welcome back SSX!
With every new feature reveal and gameplay video since its announcement, SSX has become more and more exciting and now that an amazing demo for the game is available it’s clear that the franchise is returning in fantastic style, with pumping music, chilling visuals, thrilling tricks and great online stat-tracking features, all wrapped up in a globe-trotting adventure that’ll take you to famous (and dangerous) mountain ranges around the world.
EA South Africa and El33tonline are giving away an incredible four copies of SSX (two on Xbox 360 and two on PlayStation 3) and for a chance to win one of the games you’ll need to make your way over to our SSX Competition Page and give our question some thought - the game looks incredible, so it’s worth a bit of investigation, right?
Get going!
The recently-announced demo for EA’s action snowboarding game SSX is now available on Xbox LIVE everybody!
Extreme snowboarding game SSX is just around the corner for PS3 and Xbox 360 gamers, with its worldwide launch happening in little over a week. Everything is pointing to this title being another smash hit for EA Sports and an upcoming demo should prove what a must-play title this is.
The release of SSX is fast approaching, it will be available for Xbox 360 and PS3 on the 28th of February in the US with PAL territories following on the 2nd of March.
So, there’s still a little time to sit back and enjoy three new gameplay videos, packed with information about three regions you can expect to explore in the game: Africa, Himalayas and the Alps.
Want to travel to the Himalayas, learn about some more exciting online features and witness the ‘LaLaLa Lock Step’ uber move, as performed by one Elise Riggs?
Then you had better set aside some time to watch a collection of fantastic SSX videos packed with information and adrenaline-pumping action, all before reading over the game’s enormous list of included licensed tracks.
Let’s get rocking!
Over the last couple of years we’ve grown accustomed to seeing console titles with online multiplayer bundled with an Online Pass in an effort to curb the used games market.
Some games’ Online Passes are more lenient than others, but I’ve never heard of any Online Pass that allows you to freely play the multiplayer component of a title - until now.
You might be forgiven for thinking that the action portrayed in SSX is a ‘sport.’
EA’s thrill ride of snowboarding game, SSX, looks more and more exhilarating with every new reveal, from GeoTags to online functionality, to the use of real NASA data for maps and the game’s amazing visuals, not to mention the extreme-looking stunts and action - SSX ticks a lot of boxes!
