Last Friday Activision Publishing revealed a brand new entry to the Spyro the Dragon series of action adventure titles, coming later this year to most game platforms as well as mobile devices and ‘the web.’
While not much is known about the actual in-game actions and activities we’ll be experiencing in this new title, Activision did reveal an incredibly cool aspect to this new Spyro game that the company is calling “an entertainment breakthrough for the toy and [videogame] industries.”
Welp, I guess we were a little early on this one.
Activision Publishing has today officially taken the wraps off of a new entry into the Spyro series of action games in the form of Skylanders: Spyro’s Adventure, with details and screenshots to further flesh out its existence.

A report on USA Today has uncovered news of a new game currently in development based on the cult-classic character action-based franchise, Spyro the Dragon, with a line of toys and action figures also in the works with a dual-purpose use in mind – augmented reality!
When Xbox frontman Major Nelson posted a list of upcoming Xbox LIVE content the other day, in amongst the talk of brand new Xbox LIVE games, Games on Demand titles heading to the service and an upcoming free Xbox LIVE Gold weekend, he also mentioned something about special price offers on digital content for a range of Activision games.
No further information was forthcoming… until now!

EA has announced that the company’s internal label, EA Partners, has signed a publishing agreement with independent developer Insomniac Games that will see the studio’s new, unannounced and upcoming franchise launch on both the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
This new title will mark the first time an Insomniac game sees a multiplatform release in the developer’s 16 years of operation, which has been predominantly PlayStation-focussed for much of its history.
This February at the DICE Summit in Las Vegas, videogame industry legend Mark Cerny will be formally inducted into the Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences Hall of Fame, joining the likes of luminaries such as Shigeru Miyamoto, John Carmack, Will Wright and Sid Meier.
Mark Cerny has made major contributions to videogame technologies and numerous titles throughout the years, some of which you may not even realise he had a hand in, including Marble Madness way back in 1984, Sonic the Hedgehog 2 in 1992, Crash Bandicoot, Spyro the Dragon, Heart of Darkness, Jak and Daxter, Ratchet and Clank, Resistance, Uncharted, MotorStorm, Heavenly Sword, inFamous and Killzone 2, with many more to come in the future through his consultation company, Cerny Games.
It’s a bit of an disappointing PlayStation Store update this week, as the US and European PS Stores get the usual assortment of Rock Band downloadable content (DLC), game add-on content, demos and videos.
