During THQ’s recent investor report the publisher announced that revenue for the three months ending March 2012 (and for financial year 2012 overall) was up, but net losses for the quarter increased by nearly $10 million compared to the year previous - all of which is good (and better than expected) news for the ailing company.
Revenue and losses weren’t the real story of THQ’s meeting, however, as a delay for Obsidian’s South Park: The Game RPG was also announced, while the planned 2013 action title from Tomonobu Itagaki (Ninja Gaiden, Dead or Alive), Devil’s Third, will likely be sold to another publisher to help bring it to market.
South Park: The Game from Obsidian Entertainment was announced in December last year to the surprise of just about everyone, and will apparently be a fully fledged RPG with all of the trimmings you would expect from the genre.
Being published by THQ, South Park: The Game is due for release this year on PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, and the first ever screenshots and artwork were recently released for everyone to enjoy.
So… enjoy:
Thanks to a Game Informer magazine cover reveal, it’s been revealed that RPG masters Obsidian Entertainment are currently working on a role-playing game set in the most unlikely of properties: South Park.
Obsidian Entertainment (Fallout: New Vegas, Dungeon Siege 3) and THQ are collaborating with South Park series creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker to create an RPG based on the long-running hit animated TV show, both of whom will perform script writing and voice acting duties while overseeing development of the game.
