On the back of the highly successful launch of Skylanders: Spyro’s Adventure in 2011 and the reveal of Skylanders: Spyro’s Universe in December comes the official announcement of the next full game in the series, Skylanders Giants.
Now that you’ve completed Skylanders: Spyro’s Adventure on the platform of your choice, do you need something else to do with the Portal of Power and your levelled up figurines? Do you need another reason to bring your toys to life in Activision and Toys For Bob’s world?
Then have a look at Skylanders: Spyro’s Universe, an online multiplayer game where you’ll be able to partner up with friends while making further use of your inanimate Skylands creatures.
Gamers enjoy nothing better than to delight in our favourite pastime - diving into magnificent virtual worlds filled with magic, warfare and whimsy gives us a chance to take a break for a few hours in epic adventures, and also allows us to hook up with friends online to marvel at these worlds together.
Some people don’t think these worlds are so magnificent, however, and decry videogames as mere children’s toys and, on the extreme end of that spectrum, promoters of violence. You may even know these people, so this Question of the Day asks:

The evil (and pretty ridiculous) Kaos has plunged the once prosperous world of Skylands into darkness (with The Darkness, funnily enough) and not even the mighty Eon is powerful enough to stave off the threat and protect the floating islands, rolling hills and ancient temples from destruction, as pieces of the precious ‘Core of Light’ have been scattered to the four corners of the kingdom.
Who will help Eon gather the pieces of the Core of Light, drive The Darkness back, defeat Kaos and ultimately save all of Skylands from its fate? You and your collection of powerful creatures, the Skylanders, have been tasked with this tall order.

This entire week (and arguably the last few months) have lead up until this point, today: Battlefield 3 is available now around the world, and many of us here at El33tonline will be fully entrenched in the game’s signature style of multiplayer warfare, as well as that excellent singleplayer campaign.
As always, there are a host of other games to play and activities to indulge in, and here are just a few of the things members of El33tonline will be keeping busy with this weekend:
It never fails to amaze us how quickly the week goes - one day you’re posting about exciting new competitions and delivering great new reviews to the world on a videogame website, and then the next, you realise it’s nearing the end of Friday and there’s so much more left to do before the coming week.
Luckily, the release of Batman: Arkham City is going to help us ease ourselves into the weekend and relax before tackling more urgent tasks, while a few other games have arrived to serve a similar purpose.

Microsoft and Turn 10’s latest racing sim, Forza Motorsport 4, has shot straight to the top of Chart Track’s UK Software Sales listing this week to claim No. 1 ahead of previous chart bully, FIFA 12, by a little over 700 units.
You had best get your pockets right, p33ps, because the videogame world has this week been flooded by another wave of digital delights - Skylanders: Spyro’s Adventure, PES 2012 and Forza Motorsport 4 take top billing this week, but there’s still more in store (literally) that will test the limits of your wallet.

With the launch of Skylanders: Spyro’s Adventure just around the corner now (you’re right, it’s tomorrow!), Activision has released the launch trailer for the game.
El33tonline has been revealing tons of reasons to get yourself to this year’s rAge expo in Johannesburg next week, with loads of prizes, competitions and giveaways happening at our very own Stand 28 on the showfloor of the Coca-Cola Dome.
South African videogame distributor Megarom has just announced a few different reasons to attend the show, too, and will be bringing a massive collection of unreleased games to rage 2011.
During El33tonline’s very first appointment of gamescom 2011, I was treated to a gameplay demonstration of Skylanders: Spyro’s Adventure by Toys for Bob studio president Paul Reiche III (the Paul Reiche III!), as well as Vicarious Visions game director Ben Throop, who both showed a few new neat features of the game across Wii, Xbox 360 and the 3DS that we hadn’t seen before.

Hands up those of you who remember the classic Spyro the Dragon character-based action adventure games on PlayStation and PlayStation 2… right, so I can’t actually see you raising your hand, but I can guess that there are a fair number of people who have fond memories of the series, and I’ve got good news for you: Spyro is back in a brand new, awesome-looking and inventive game called Skylanders: Spyro’s Adventure.
During a recent showcase presentation event held by South African game distributor Megarom, attendees were treated to a demonstration of the Wii version of Skylanders: Spyro’s Adventure and we were able to glimpse the game’s colourful world and characters, snippets of gameplay and witness a live demonstration of its innovative use of physical action figures in-game.

Last Friday Activision Publishing revealed a brand new entry to the Spyro the Dragon series of action adventure titles, coming later this year to most game platforms as well as mobile devices and ‘the web.’
While not much is known about the actual in-game actions and activities we’ll be experiencing in this new title, Activision did reveal an incredibly cool aspect to this new Spyro game that the company is calling “an entertainment breakthrough for the toy and [videogame] industries.”

Activision Publishing has today officially taken the wraps off of a new entry into the Spyro series of action games in the form of Skylanders: Spyro’s Adventure, with details and screenshots to further flesh out its existence.
