Never being able to do more than just stand on a skateboard and ride it downhill, I always felt like my life was missing something. That was until the geniuses that are games developers started making skateboarding games. The Tony Hawk series way back on PS1 allowed me to do what I never would be able to do in real life. I was an avid fan of the series but my appreciation of it ended with Project 8. It was great, but offered nothing new. I had heard about the Skate series of games, but was never able to play one until now.

And the competition’s just keep on coming! Now we’re giving away a copy of the skating simulation game Skate 3 for the Xbox 360, courtesy of EA.
Winning is easy, just head over to our Skate 3 competition page and get your entry in before this Friday, the 4th of June, and you could be cutting it up soon.
You can also check out our previous coverage for more information about Skate 3 and keep an eye out for our review of the game later today.
EA’s skating sim Skate 3 released around the world last week on Xbox 360 and PS3, and if you’ve been enjoying your time with the game, you may be able to increase that enjoyment by a few factors with a special bonus character – Isaac Clarke, the heavy-suited protagonist from EA’s horror action game, Dead Space.
You can unlock Isaac Clarke as a playable character in Skate 3 by entering the code “DEADSPACETOO” in the game. Head on down below to see Isaac ‘cutting it up’ in Skate 3’s environments, and perhaps even ‘flipping’ and ‘grinding,’ too.
There’s no stopping EA Sports’ FIFA World Cup South Africa ahead of the real world competition in South Africa next month, as the game based on the event sits at the top of Chart Track’s UK Software Sales Chart for the third week in a row, despite a 42% drop is sales since last week.
The excellent Alan Wake, a debut title, appears at No. 2 on the chart (only 1000 units in sales behind FIFA World Cup) in its first week on sale in the UK – impressive considering it only showed up in stores on Friday and had two days to make an impression on the sales ranking. Also, it’s only available on a single platform, the Xbox 360.
You know, for some reason or other, I haven’t been ‘feeling’ Skate 3 in the midst of the run-up to the skating sim’s release this week.
The screenshots and trailers that EA and developer Black Box have put out in the last few months have been impressive, for sure, and I thoroughly enjoyed Skate 2, but for reasons unbeknownst to me, Skate 3 seemed like a miasma I could simply let blow over.
This new trailer for Skate 3, however, has finally switched something on, and all of a sudden I’m looking forward to the title. As a launch trailer, it doesn’t do anything spectacular, but it does effectively show off what’s great about skating in a videogame, and what’s great about Skate 3 in particular – multiplayer skating:
