According to game industry luminary Suda 51, it could be described as a third-person shooter, but as we learn from these highly intriguing (and incredibly bizarre) interviews, Shadows of the Damned is so much more than a mere action game, and includes unique visions of hell, a transforming sidekick (talking skull) character, horrific enemies, Spanish accents and “crazy, unique, extreme bosses.”

When Platinum Games released Bayonetta last year (and early this year), the developer was sure to include an ‘Easy Auto’ difficulty mode that allowed super casual and inexperienced players to complete the game with the use of a single button.

Now with the studio’s next action title, Vanquish, a new difficulty is being included to allow similarly inexperienced gamers to enjoy the game as much as experienced and hardcore players.

As revealed in an interview with Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu, Shinji Mikami is all set to build up a new videogame development studio at the end of the year, once work on the game he’s currently involved with, Platinum Games’ Vanquish, wraps up.

Shinji MikamiMikami of course would be known for his work at Capcom on series such as Resident Evil, Dino Crisis, Onimusha, Devil May Cry and Viewtiful Joe, and after leaving Capcom in 2005 and becoming an independent developer, he formed the production company Straight Story and is currently a contract employee at Platinum Games, serving as the director on Vanquish.

With Mikami’s new studio based in Tokyo, called Tango, he aims to allow game developers new to the industry a chance to be creative and grow into their different roles without worrying about the pure business aspect of game development. From the interview with Famitsu, Mikami commented:

Furthermore, Mikami informed readers of Japanese videogame magazine Famitsu that Vanquish will indeed be a third-person shooter, but will not be a ‘normal’ entry to this genre, and will emphasise speed and fast-paced action.
