Sony Computer Entertainment has set live the latest firmware update for PlayStation 3, adding new features and a new terms of service agreement with the changeover from PlayStation Network accounts to Sony Entertainment Network accounts included.
So the rumours were true: Corporate Executive Officer and Executive Deputy President of Sony Corporation and president of the Consumer Products and Services Group (i.e. head of Sony Computer Entertainment) has today been named president and CEO of Sony Corporation.
Current president and CEO Sir Howard Stringer will remain in his roles until April 1st, at which time Hirai will officially take on his new duties.

After a new rating surfaced for the original Killzone by the Entertainment Software Ratings Board in the US, Sony Computer Entertainment America has confirmed to Game Informer that the classic PlayStation 2 first-person shooter will see a release on PlayStation 3 this month.
The recent buzz around videogame internet circles has been the reported planned announcements of both the next Xbox from Microsoft, as well as the PlayStation 4 from Sony, at E3 in June this year.
At least one of these consoles will definitely not see a showing at the expo.

At this year’s Spike Video Game Awards ceremony, Uncharted developer Naughty Dog revealed the next PlayStation 3-exclusive game and franchise the studio is currently working on in the form of a jaw-dropping action adventure title, ‘The Last of Us.’

This just in from DICE, the Back to Karkand expansion pack for Battlefield 3 is now available on the PlayStation Store and in-game store. It will be available as a PS3 exclusive for one week, as will every future expansion pack for the game. You’ll be able to get it for free if you own the Limited Edition of Battlefield 3, otherwise you’ll have to pay $14.99 to get the pack.
The official PlayStation Blog has just let out word of a release date for Battlefield 3’s Back to Karkand expansion pack, confirming the content’s time-exclusive nature.
According to a post on the blog’s Twitter account:
I thoroughly enjoyed last year’s EyePet: Move Edition which was a well-crafted and fun Augmented Reality (AR) experience for the whole family. EyePet & Friends adds some new ingredients to the mix, including a fresh batch of mini-games and a greater emphasis on customisation. The team at Sony Computer Entertainment has snuck out a brand new firmware update for the PlayStation 3 this morning, bringing everyone’s consoles up to version 4.00.
It will also get us all ready for the launch of PS Vita in Japan this year, apparently.

Naughty Dog co-president Evan Wells has today formally announced the existence of the Jak & Daxter Collection for PlayStation 3 with screenshots and a trailer to show off the title, which features high-definition remastered versions of the studio’s three favourite Jak & Daxter games.
