Sam and Max Season 3, The Devil’s Playhouse Episode 5 – The City That Dares Not Sleep is as long as titles get. It’s so long in fact, that its bordering ridiculous! But then again ‘ridiculous’ has never been above Sam and Max, so that sort of behavior is not exactly discouraged around here. Typing long titles over and over is discouraged (for my own sanity), so lets just call this game The City That Dares Not Sleep.

‘Beyond the Alley of the Dolls’ is the fourth episode in the current season of Sam and Max games, and it should be made clear from the start that in order to get the most enjoyment out of this episode, you really should play the first three games. The story follows on, and some scenes reference the previous episodes. Yet if you wanted to take the plunge and jump into episode 4, then you won’t be hindered too much.
In the penultimate episode of the Devil’s Playhouse, our daring duo faces their worst nightmare: an army of zombie cloned Sams, all clad in nothing but shiny underwear! Who is behind this dastardly act? Who is out to get Sam and Max? Will they succeed and make it to the next episode? Well, yes, obviously, there are five episodes planned and they would be rather silly if the main stars did not make it into the last episode!

Just one more day until Episode 4 of Sam & Max: The Devil’s Playhouse is available and Telltale Games has released a new trailer to celebrate.
Titled ‘Beyond the Alley of the Dolls,’ Episode 4 promises to keep you entertained as Sam and Max are forced to take cover in a “barricaded ramshackle diner” from an “onslaught of oversized canine clones akin to a zombie apocalypse.”
Telltale Games has announced that Episode 4 of Sam & Max: The Devil’s Playhouse will be available this coming Tuesday, the 20th of July, and that it features clones!
Titled ‘Beyond the Alley of the Dolls,’ Episode 4 is the last episode before the season finale and sees the “forces that have been pulling the Freelance Police’s strings begin revealing themselves.” It also promises to be a “tale that will change the way you look at Sam & Max forever!”
Telltale Games has done wonders for both reviving adventure games (they never died, they never will die!) and episodic games. Sam and Max has to be their best series as they are now in their third season, and picking up momentum in every game. Looking at the content of this game makes you wonder how they can trump it with more weird and wacky ideas. At some point they have to run out, right?

Sam and Max: The Devil’s Playhouse - Episode 2: The Tomb of Sammun Mak has got to be one of the most convoluted titles in gaming history. It indicates it’s a Sam and Max game, which tells you that it should be an adventure game. The Devil’s Playhouse Episode 2 tells you that you are playing an episodic title, something which has yet to really make a big splash in gaming. The Tomb of Sammun Mak gives away the current title of the episode, and also tells you a lot about where it is set. This is all well and good so far, so let’s see how deep the rabbit hole goes.

Will earth fall into the hands of a huge gorilla alien king and need rescue? Of course it will! And nobody is better at getting us all out of a fix than Sam and Max. Then again, nobody gets us into a fix as quickly as Sam and Max!
