What a rugby year this has turned out to be so far! Not only do we have the Rugby World Cup to look forward to, but we have two rugby titles launching within weeks of one another - it’s like Christmas for rugby fans! One of the titles being released is the official game of the Rugby World Cup 2011 in New Zealand, developed by sports game studio HB Studios which created Rugby ’08. That game was a big hit with rugby fans in 2007, so let’s take a look at how the developer’s newly released Rugby World Cup 2011 stacks up.

[Update]
There were unfortunately technical issues with the show today, and South African game distributor Apex let us know a short while ago that the planned multiplayer session of Rugby World Cup 2011 has been postponed.
Sorry p33ps, we were also looking forward to it. Hopefully the team at Apex and Expresso can reschedule for another time.

Rugby World Cup 2011 from 505 Games and HB Studios’ was recently released to the clamouring hands of rugby enthusiasts in South Africa, and to celebrate the game’s successful launch, SABC 3’s morning Expresso show will feature live multiplayer sessions of the game!
Expresso will air these live matches tomorrow, September 6th, from 6am until 8am with presenter Grant Hinds as the host, but the best part is that El33tonline’s own Daryl (RockstarDE) will be representing us by playing a few matches during the show!
Daryl will be joining the studio live via voice chat over Xbox LIVE while storming the virtual fields of battle with and against some tough competition, including local South African celebrities.
So be sure to tune into SABC 3 between 6am and 8am to watch the Expresso breakfast show, and listen out for (and show your support of) Daryl!
Despite a whopping 46% drop in sales compared to the week previous, Deus Ex: Human Revolution has once again claimed the top spot on Chart Track’s UK Software Sales listing, ahead of the newly released Driver: San Francisco.
Ubisoft’s Driver, however, had enough success to land it in No. 2 on the chart - as 53% of the game’s sales were seen on Xbox 360, while 46% were recorded on PS3 - effectively pushing the previous sales monster Zumba Fitness down by one place to No. 3, as that title’s sales dropped by 19% from the previous week.
Sales of Rugby World Cup also fell, this time by 30%, forcing the game down to No. 4 from No. 3, while LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean (sales down 16%) stepped down one place to No. 5.
The undisputed ‘UK Software Chart Champion,’ Zumba Fitness, has finally had its position on Chart Track’s sales listing put into dispute with the release of Deus Ex: Human Revolution, as the latest first-person action game from Square Enix and Eidos Montreal has managed to climb to the top of the chart during its first week on sale.
Interestingly, Chart Track notes that in only two days worth of sales, Deus Ex: Human Revolution was only 26 000 units short of outdoing the lifetime sales of the latest series entry, Deus Ex: Invisible War. Massive!
Rugby World Cup 2011 fever is about to hit your gaming console! With the biggest rugby event of the year just around the corner, HB Studios has released the demo to the Official Rugby World Cup 2011 videogame, just in time to get you amped for the real-life Rugby World Cup.
This is the first Rugby Union demo in around four years and has finally arrived on Xbox LIVE and the PlayStation Store. There have been plenty of people in countries around the world that have been waiting for a follow up to Rugby 08, especially Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 owners who have never had a Rugby Union title available to them.

Keen rugby fans who also happen to own an Xbox 360 listen up!
The demo for 505 Games and HB Studios’ Rugby World Cup 2011 is now available for download over Xbox LIVE Marketplace!
After stringing us along with trickles of screenshots and licensing announcements, 505 Games and HB Studios have together finally released a trailer for the pair’s Rugby World Cup 2011 filled to the absolute brim with crushing, hard-hitting gameplay footage.
Watch below as players leap in the air, tackle each other with reckless abandon, careen down the field and generally make life rough for one another – it’s incredibly impressive stuff:
If you’re itching to get your hands on the official PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 game of the Rugby World Cup, then you’ll be able to grab a demo for Rugby World Cup 2011 from the beginning of August!
Another day, another set of screenshots for 505 Games and HB Studios’ rugby sports game, Rugby World Cup 2011, along with news of a new official agreement with the Irish Rugby Football Union to include Ireland’s official team kit, emblem and stadium in the game, as well as “many” of the players’ likenesses.
Grab those new screenshots below, this time showcasing Ireland going up against New Zealand, and the team’s stadium:
Following similar agreement announcements over the last few weeks, it’s been revealed that the Welsh Rugby Union will officially be represented in the upcoming Rugby World Cup 2011 title from 505 Games and HB Studios, so when the game is available on August 26th this year on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, that team’s official kit, emblem and stadium (the Millennium Stadium) will be included.
Check out an additional two screenshots released alongside the announcement featuring Wales and (once again) South Africa in action in Rugby World Cup 2011:
News and media continue to trickle out for 505 Games and HB Studios’ upcoming Rugby World Cup 2011 for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, and this time two new screenshots have appeared from the ether featuring the Scottish and South African rugby teams locked in battle.

With the announcement that 505 Games and HB Studios have netted the rights to use the French Rugby Federation and its paraphernalia (including official kit, emblems and player likenesses) in the upcoming Rugby World Cup 2011, two new screenshots have been released to show French rugby players in action in the game.
But… what we here in South Africa are much more interested in are sightings of the green and gold Springbok jersey in the new screens:
With the release of two brand-spanking new screenshots for Rugby World Cup 2011 for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, 505 Games and HB Studios have announced an exclusive partnership agreement with the Rugby Football Union.
Rugby World Cup 2011 from HB Studios and 505 Games has received brand new screenshots and official box art in the wake of the mighty E3 2011.
Fans of soccer are spoilt for choice in the videogame arena, with two excellent titles in the form of FIFA and Winning Eleven releasing like clockwork each year.
Rugby fans, on the other hand, have very little to choose from in the way of game adaptations of this sport. There were a couple of rugby titles on the PS2, Xbox and PC but nothing has come our way for a number of years now.
That’s all set to change later this year, when Rugby World Cup 2011 releases for Xbox 360 and PS3 in August to coincide with the official tournament taking place in New Zealand (go Bokke!).
