If you’ve already made plans to pick up Jonah Lomu Rugby Challenge first thing on Thursday morning you may want to cancel them and move them forward by one day. That’s because the game’s distributor in South Africa - Megarom Interactive - has announced that they will release the title a day early due to “immense pressure and enthusiasm from fans and retailers alike”.
Jonah Lomu Rugby Challenge (as it’s titled in South Africa) finally has a release date, and thankfully it’s earlier than many anticipated after the game’s publisher Tru Blu Entertainment assured fans that it wouldn’t release later than September 30th, as it has today been announced that the console versions of Rugby Challenge will launch in early September in the Southern Hemisphere.
This year’s gamescom should be brimming with various sports titles all competing for attendants’ attention. This is a bumper time of year for this genre and besides tennis, most of the big-name sports and driving games are launching between August and November. 2011 is Rugby World Cup year, so there’s also the rare sight of two rugby games entering the fray.
You could say there’s something for everyone releasing in the next few months, and sports-mad gamers are going to be spoilt for choice. Let’s take a look at some of the most anticipated titles that will almost definitely be shown off at gamescom this month.

New Zealand-based Sidhe Interactive and Home Entertainment Suppliers recently announced that the pair have teamed up to develop the sports game, Rugby Challenge, for console and PC platforms, and will “[seek] to capture the attention of a growing number of rugby fans around the world” in the third quarter of 2011.
According to a press release, Rugby Challenge will include the national New Zealand team, the All Blacks, as well as the ITM Cup and Investec Super Rugby league, and other licensed teams and competitions, too.
Additional features of Rugby Challenge include online multiplayer, a multi-year franchise mode, extensive customisation options, and dynamic real-time commentary.
