It’s been nine years since Max Payne 2 so the release of the long-awaited third entry in the series last week was greeted with great enthusiasm by Max Payne fans as well as gamers eager to experience a cutting-edge, narrative-driven third-person shooter.
If you’re at all interested in Max Payne 3 or the previous two entries in the series, then the following Q & A with Rockstar’s Global VP of Development, Jeronimo Barrera, is well worth reading. Barrera fielded questions collected by the Xbox Community Network (XCN) and provided some pretty in-depth answers ranging from anecdotes from the game’s development to how linear we can expect Max Payne 3 to be.
Guns have always played a large role in the Max Payne series and Max Payne 3 appears to embrace their centrality with a wider selection of weaponry than ever before, along with incredibly visceral combat that is sure to appeal to shooter fans.
The Max Payne series has always featured an extensive and varied assortment of weapons, including a few bullet-spraying submachine guns that were particularly useful against large groups of enemies. In the original Max Payne there was no better way to dispatch the game’s annoying thugs than by diving into an enemy-infested room with your Dual Ingrams blazing!
Max Payne 3 is still a couple of months away but Rockstar recently issued a friendly reminder that the game is going to contain some seriously impressive-looking shootouts by posting more than twenty new screenshots to its official website.
One of the highlights of playing the first two Max Payne games was cutting through a group of enemies with your dual 9mm pistols or Ingrams blazing. Max Payne 3 will provide just as many opportunities to indulge in a spot of destructive dual wielding but you’ll now be able to mix and match weapons to form a handsome pair of glinting guns.
Rockstar Games has just announced that the release of the studios’ next action game, Max Payne 3, has been pushed back into May 2012, past it’s originally revealed launch window of March.
The PC version of L.A. Noire was released just two weeks ago but you can already pick it up for the bargain price of $24.99 as part of Steam’s ‘daily deal’.
The offer expires in around six hours so you’ll need to be quick about it. You can view the special deal over here.
PC gamers weren’t too pleased when Rockstar Games gave them the cold shoulder last year by refusing to publish Red Dead Redemption on their platform of choice. Thankfully the publisher isn’t going to make the same mistake twice, as earlier this year they announced their intention to bring the critically acclaimed console title L.A. Noire to PC.
Rockstar Games has just announced that the company’s “new dark, gritty action experience,” Max Payne 3, will be released early next year, with details on the game’s multiplayer revealed, too.

Rockstar Games has just revealed plans for new downloadable content for its popular crime thriller, LA Noire. We say popular because the game just finished top of the UK Software Charts yet again this week, and because we here at El33tonline enjoyed it too of course (read our review here).
With a reported seven-year development period behind it, Rockstar and Team Bondi’s LA Noire is now available for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in South Africa and the world.
But what is LA Noire? Let’s investigate.
This is my favourite time following the release of the latest massive videogame – the graphics comparisons between different platforms, in most cases across Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Why? Because gamers go ballistic!
If one version of the game dares to look better on one platform over the other, however infinitesimally, the community goes wild as PS3 and Xbox 360 fans tout ‘their’ console’s superiority… or bemoan ‘their’ console’s shortcomings.
Performance issues on different platforms are another issue entirely…
The past five days have been momentous for both Sony Computer Entertainment (SCE) and Rockstar Games – one company brought a gigantic service network back to life, while the other released a spectacular, seven-years-in-the-making action adventure title.
Little did they know, however, that their triumphs would be connected to (and intertwined with) the tribulations of “a very small number” of PlayStation 3 owners, and the companies have jointly announced that neither the latest system update for the console, nor LA Noire itself, are the roots of reported overheating problems.
As most everyone that keeps an eye on the wonderful world of videogames must surely know by now, Rockstar and Team Bondi’s crime thriller, LA Noire, is all set for release next week around the world, making its way into North America on May 17th, and then in Europe, the UK and South Africa on May 20th.
El33tonline’s previous looks at LA Noire will easily clue you in on this astounding looking and incredibly intriguing action adventure game, and you can find out about protagonist Cole Phelps’ rise through the ranks of the LAPD, the powerful performance capture technology behind the game, and more.
For now, though, keep that Hype O’ Meter revving with the launch trailer for LA Noire:
Rockstar is known for its overwhelmingly massive open-world titles, with the most recent of these games being the enormous Red Dead Redemption. With the release of LA Noire this month, the studio will be continuing this fine tradition as developer Team Bondi has worked to create a game of equal proportions to Rockstar’s epics.
LA Noire is so big, in fact, that it can’t even fit on one DVD. Or two, for that matter.
Speaking to Kotaku’s Stephen Totilo, Team Bondi’s Jeronimo Barrera explained the expansive size of LA Noire:
