PlayStation Store - A Virtual Shopping BagThe US PlayStation Store was updated last night with plenty of great offers and new content. There are a ton of games currently on sale to coincide with E3, so now’s a good time to purchase Battlefield Bad Company 2, Assassin’s Creed, Warhawk or Super Street Fighter IV related content.

There’s not a whole lot of new content for PlayStation Plus members, unless you’re keen to pick up the freebies Lilo & Stitch (PS1 title) or Magic the Gathering: Duels of the Planeswalkers. There’s also an inFAMOUS 2 dynamic theme to download that is pretty awesome.

The two items which look the most appealing on this list from my perspective are the demos for El Shaddai: Ascension Of The Metatron and Dungeon Siege III. Both are available to the entire PlayStation community so get downloading to sample these two highly anticipated titles.

There’s also a few HD trailers for games being demoed at E3, including the beautiful-looking Final Fantasy XIII-2.

The Metal Pedal is durable thanks to the metal plated exterior while the rubber feet hold the pedal firmly in place and the wide base provides stable footing and consistent response.

The coiled wire ensures your drum set-up is kept tangle free and the pedal also features a unique splitter which allows gamers to play with two pedals at once. Of course it doesn’t hurt that it features an awesome hard rock design too, check out the rest of the pictures after the jump.

NPD, the product sales tracker in the US, has revealed that Guitar Hero: World Tour outsold its rival music game, Rock Band 2, by a factor of 2 to 1 in 2008.

Guitar Hero: World Tour BoxWorld Tour, releasing simultaneously across four platforms in 2008 (Wii, PS2, PS3 and Xbox 360) racked up 3.4 million units in sales, while Rock Band 2, on a staggered release schedule from the middle of September to the middle of December, has sold 1.7 million units.

While these numbers are significant and comprehensive, one must take into account the staggered release of Rock Band 2, as the last two platforms on which it was release were the PS2 and Wii – the two consoles with the largest combined installed base.

Rock Band, the franchise, is not under threat from the upcoming Guitar Hero: World Tour, despite the latter’s music creation feature as well as a full compliment of music instruments this time round.

Rock Band 2According to one of the developers at Harmonix, John Drake, “We’ve talked about doing a music creator. We’ve actually done them before in other games that we’ve done like in Amplitude and Frequency…We’ve done the whole MIDI creation thing. We think we can do something really ambitious and really great that’s going to speak across all the users of the game, not just hardcore users.”

It seems, however, that this functionality will have to wait since Rock Band 2 is releasing so soon (September). Drake continued, “So Harmonix is going to do something great with it [the music creator] down the road, we didn’t want to rush it out and do it half-assed. This is definitely a full-on project for us. You’ll hear more about it soon.” Maybe a patch?

In the meantime, have a look at the enormous set-list that will be available with Rock Band 2, out of the box.

Hot on the heels of Sony announcing that all instruments for the PS3 versions of three upcoming music games (Rock Band 2, Guitar Hero: World Tour and Rock Revolution) will be compatible, Microsoft has announced that all instruments for upcoming Xbox 360 rhythm games will be compatible too.

In a post on the Gamerscoreblog, Microsoft stated “All the instruments from Rock Band 2, Guitar Hero: World Tour, and Rock Revolution will be cross-compatible. In other words, welcome to the party.”

A game notably absent from the list was Lips, a game from developer iNis that features motion-sensitive microphones and appears to be Microsoft’s answer to Sony’s SingStar series.
