Rise of Nightmares for Kinect is a game that sets a few milestones, both globally in terms of being the first M-rated Kinect game released and personally in terms of being my first real foray into Kinect gaming. The game is published and developed by SEGA and touted as a survival horror videogame - certainly an interesting approach to the Kinect controller considering that almost every other Kinect game presently available is geared towards family entertainment.

As part of a drive to show Japanese developer support for Microsoft’s Xbox 360 Kinect last year, SEGA revealed a game made exclusively for the controller-free device at Tokyo Game Show 2011, and it was suitably named Rise of Nightmares.

Sega has revealed that Rise of Nightmares will be available worldwide in 2011 on Kinect for the Xbox 360.

Rise of Nightmares promises to offer gamers a “spine-tingling horror experience which uses the innovative new controls of Kinect to give players the ultimate fright.”
