Ridge Racer games have traditionally accompanied console launches, so it’s no surprise that new PS Vita owners have another drift-dominated entry in this long-running series to consider. The game is priced at only R219 on the PlayStation Store, so publisher Namco Bandai clearly realises that it doesn’t offer a fully fledged racing experience. Ridge Racer only has five cars and three courses from the get-go, with these numbers set to double over the next month or so as free DLC is released to those people who bought the game new. There’s also no career mode, no tournaments and no arcade mode so playing the game offline essentially limits you to ‘spot races’ against AI opponents and a Time Trial mode.

You may have a heard that the Japanese version of Ridge Racer for PS Vita didn’t include a whole lot of content from the get-go. The game was priced cheaper than other Vita titles as buyers were expected to beef up the experience by purchasing DLC cars and tracks as they became available.

Another great content update is on the way in a few hours for all you European PlayStation Store browsers out there, the most surprising addition being the original PlayStation version of Tekken 2!

The PSP version of Ridge Racer will also be available for download, while a demo of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is set to feature on the storefront, too.

And then, if you still haven’t got the game, you can purchase and download LittleBigPlanet for PS3, while a host of new Marvel-themed costumes for the game will also magically appear.

One last highlight would be the addition of the new Bioshock 2 singleplayer content, while the usual assortment of Rock Band and Guitar Hero tracks, as well as interesting videos, themes and wallpapers will also become available.
