EL33TONLINE: News tag archive: revamp

Yesterday Sony revealed that the PlayStation Store will be revamped in mid-April with a more fluid Store interface.

A post on SCEA’s PlayStation blog has further detailed the revamp. “The new interface allows customers to browse through eight primary categories, rather than four, making it easier to locate games, demos, game add-ons and other content. It also enables us to put up to twice as many items per page, significantly cutting down the time it takes to browse through content.”

PS3 owners will be able to access, browse, shop and download content before the store re-opens but no additional downloadable content will be posted before then. This means that there will be no PSN updates on the 3rd and 10th of April.

Once the store has re-opened content updates will resume and additional games and game-related items will be added including the downloadable version of Gran Turismo 5: Prologue.

A firmware update will be released when the PlayStation Store is set to re-open with the new interface. This will enable PS3 gamers to enter the new store.

Stay tuned for more details on the PlayStation Store upgrade. Sony has promised a video walkthrough in the next few days.

Sony has announced that the PlayStation Store will be undergoing a revamp in April. Last year Sony conducted a survey which showed that PS3 gamers across the PAL region wanted a better interface and easier navigation.

Due to this feedback the online content store on PlayStation Network will feature a new design, easier navigation, a greater scope for categorisation and a dynamic new user interface.

Content on the PlayStation Store will be suspended for two weeks while the improvements are underway. This means that there will be no weekly content updates until the store is relaunched in mid-April. Sony has assured users that PlayStation Network accounts will not be affected by the revamp.

Sony has also promised a special update in mid-April to appease gamers until then. You will still be able to download content from the back catalogue such as Warhawk and Gran Turismo 5 Prologue.
