Plenty of videogame genres are already represented on the PS Vita but the system’s debut FPS is still a few weeks away. Third-person shooters on Vita such as Uncharted: Golden Abyss and Unit 13 have already demonstrated just how satisfying it is to line up a precise headshot on a portable device, but Resistance: Burning Skies will give us our first taste of a dual-analog FPS running on a handheld.
Resistance: Burning Skies is the biggest Sony-published PS Vita title since the system’s launch in February. While the game’s singleplayer campaign will undoubtedly be an enjoyable romp through gritty, Chimera-infested locales, it’s Burning Skies’ multiplayer modes that will keep PS Vita gamers coming back to it time and time again.
The PS Vita seems like a perfect fit for first-person shooters featuring competitive multiplayer modes. With dual analog sticks and advanced social functionality such as Near and Party Chat, the PS Vita is poised to deliver some incredible online multiplayer experiences with the likes of Resistance: Burning Skies and Call of Duty gracing the handheld later this year.
Resistance: Burning Skies for PS Vita may still be two months away but we’ll be able to get a glimpse of some elements from the game as early as tomorrow, March 27th!
March may be a fairly quiet month for new PS Vita releases but a few big titles will be coming our way in April, May and June. May’s major release is Resistance: Burning Skies - the first portable game in the series since 2009’s well-received Resistance: Retribution.
Sony is touting Resistance: Burning Skies as the first portable dual-analog first-person shooter so there’s naturally plenty of expectation associated with the game. Burning Skies is being developed by Nihilistic Software whose previous titles include PlayStation Move Heroes and Zombie Apocalypse.
The newly named PlayStation Vita game, Resistance: Burning Skies was demoed by Sony in a press event today, and we found out a few more details. The game is in development at Nihilistic Software with lots of input from Insomniac.
