This is a Question of the Day that we’ve been wanting to ask for a while, but haven’t really had a good chance seeing as how limited an opportunity we have to make use of them. With a cool reveal yesterday, however, we’re making a break for it!

Speaking to consumer site VG247 at the Game::Business::Law Summit recently, Insomniac CEO Ted Price has confirmed that the developer will no longer work on the Resistance game franchise and will instead leave it up to other developers to continue the series.
The first PlayStation Store update of the new year offers plenty of worthwhile new content to add to your virtual basket. PlayStation Plus subscribers can enjoy two free PSN games (Back to the Future: The Game and Swords & Soldiers) as well as the complete Syphon Filter trilogy from the PSone Classics collection.
Insomniac has released details on the next major patch for Resistance 3, 1.05, which is set to add absolute megatons of improvements, fixes and balance tweaks to the studio’s latest awesome first-person shooter.
The full list lies in wait below, but keep in mind that this next Resistance 3 patch will also add two more multiplayer maps, namely Creek and The Granery, both of which will become available when you grab the patch, once Sony approves it for release.
Sales tracking and research firm The NPD Group recently released its latest monthly report regarding the performance of the US videogame industry, this time for the month of September 2011. The report shows that sales across all segments of the market were down 6% compared to the 2010 results of September, with hardware, software and accessories racking up $1.16B in revenue.
The first Survival downloadable content pack for Resistance 3 is now available on the PlayStation Network.
Ahead of the game’s release over the week of November 1st around the world, Naughty Dog will be unleashing a final taste of Uncharted 3’s online offering very soon in the form of a competitive multiplayer beta test.
How soon will this taster be released? Is tomorrow soon enough?
This weekend is a little bit different to any we’ve dealt with this year. First of all, Saturday is Heritage Day in South Africa, as well as National Braai Day, so we’ll be reflecting on our roots and cooking up a storm to celebrate!
Also, it’s the last weekend before rAge 2011 kicks off on September 30th in Johannesburg next week, and there’s still a bit of preparation work to be done before we’re set and ready for our showing at the event.
We’ll be at Stand 28, so if you’re in the area and want to see the latest games and gadgets, and you want to snag a bunch of prizes with El33tonline, stop by and say hi!
But that’s next weekend. What are members of El33tonline busy with this weekend?
Dead Island has once again topped Chart Track’s UK Software Sales listing, remaining at No. 1 for the second week in a row ahead of Warhammer 40K: Space Marine, which is similarly unmovable at No. 2.
Dead Island has so far sold best on Xbox 360, with a 51/47 split between Microsoft’s console and the PlayStation 3 (with the PC version taking the remaining 2%, although these numbers don’t take digital sales into consideration).
The newly released Dead Island from Techland and Koch Media has claimed the No. 1 spot on Chart Track’s UK Software Sales listing this past week ahead of another new release, Warhammer 40K: Space Marine from Relic and THQ.
Sure, there are new games out today (like Warhammer 40K: Space Marine) and other fresh titles that released earlier this week (like Resistance 3), but there are other games that will be keeping the team at El33tonline busy this weekend: Rugby games.
And not even of the digital variety. We’re talking real-life, true blue, in living colour rugby games!
With the start of the Rugby World Cup in New Zealand this weekend, and South Africa crunching up the field against Wales on Sunday, it’s all about rugby over the next two days, but there will still be time for at least a few videogames.
What’s the team at El33tonline up to this weekend? Let’s find out:
As you’ve no doubt realised by now, Insomniac Games’ latest Chimeran-infested first-person shooter was released in the US today in the form of the outstanding Resistance 3!
Lisa’s excellent review of this fantastic game went live earlier today, and you can read that through here to find out why the internet has been ablaze in Resistance 3 praise.
Resistance 3 is an immersive experience that will sink you so deeply into the role of Joseph Capelli that you’ll feel you have something to fight for, that you have something to lose. It’s an experience that builds on the previous instalments in the series, but manages to do everything better, on a much bigger scale.

If you like your first-person shooters challenging, visceral and atmospheric then Resistance 3 is most definitely for you. Taking place four years after the events in Resistance 2, you play as dishonourably discharged Sentinel Joseph Capelli as he makes his way from Oklahoma to New York City in a desperate bid to put an end to the Chimeran invasion once and for all.

James Stevenson and Tom Pickett from Insomniac presented Resistance 3 to us at gamescom, and the singleplayer story mode is looking very interesting. The bit they showed us was part of Chapter 8: The Plan, and it followed Jo Capelli as he searches for the remains of an aircraft that he saw crashing. Capelli meets some people living in St. Louis, a resistance group known as the Remnants led by a man by the name of ‘Charlie,’ who takes Capelli back with him to their hideout.
Adding a twist to this chapter, Capelli’s friend and scientist, Malakov, is in dire need of penicillin, and it turns out this ‘Remnant’ group that he’s met up with has some, so in return for the medicine that will save his friend’s life, Capelli agrees to help the Remnants with a dangerous mission to take out a Chimeran dropship to get their hands on a power core.
