3DS games are not much cheaper than their console counterparts yet most of the time they feature far less content and replay value. Resident Evil: Revelations is one of the first games specifically designed for a handheld which offers a console-like experience in terms of graphical fidelity, production values and wealth of content on offer. It’s easy to get sucked into Revelations thanks to its atmospheric environments and compelling gameplay and at the height of your immersion you completely forget that you’re playing a portable title.

I’ve wanted to play a proper, portable Resident Evil game for a long time. I was understandably disappointed when Resident Evil Portable for PSP never materialised into anything, and later looked forward to playing Resident Evil: Revelations on 3DS once it was announced.

We may have had to wait a couple of months longer than our fellow gamers in Japan, but Nintendo has revealed that tomorrow will mark the arrival of the first couple of 3DS demos on the European eShop.

If you’re a fan of trying out games before you buy them then the 3DS eShop in its current state will leave you cold. There’s not a single demo to be found on the US or European eShop despite the 3DS being out for more than seven months. However if you live in Japan it’s a different story, with over a dozen demos being released on the Japanese eShop during December.

We’re going to agree with the general sentiment on this just-released trailer for Resident Evil: Revelations - it’s utterly bewildering.

While the Capcom Blog offers a few explanations about the characters and setting seen in the video, we think it would be a whole lot more fun to watch it before you read any further details that may make any sense of it.

Resident Evil: Revelations is one of the most anticipated titles coming to the 3DS next year, and for good reason too. The latest trailers and screenshots for the game suggest that Capcom is fully committed to ensuring that the first proper portable Resident Evil title lives up to the series’ impressive pedigree.

Nintendo 3DS Expansion Slide Pad Image (Small) Earlier this year, Nintendo confirmed the existence of a 3DS peripheral that is to add another analog circle pad to the handheld to allow for dual-analog control of upcoming games, including Capcom’s 3DS-exclusive Monster Hunter 3G.

Available in Japan on December 10th alongside the next Monster Hunter game the add-on will be known as the ‘Nintendo 3DS Expansion Slide Pad’ in the country, but if you’re living outside of Japan, the peripheral might be known as something different.

Thanks to a GameStop pre-order bonus announcement for Capcom’s Resident Evil: Revelations, we now know when we can expect to get our hands on the extended, claustrophobic adventures of Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine.

And we also know about GameStop’s pre-order bonus for the game, which is cool. A release date for the game has just been announced for Europe, too, which is extra cool.

Resident Evil Revelations Logo It’s been over two years since we’ve had a proper Resident Evil game so anticipation is high for Capcom’s latest story-driven RE title - Revelations. The game will be set between the events of RE4 and RE5, and revolves around fan favourites Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine.

Revelations is scheduled for release early next year and is exclusive to 3DS for the time being. There have been rumours circulating around the internet that it will also come to PS Vita but nothing is confirmed as yet.

After illicit news got out last week about the next entry to the Resident Evil franchise, Capcom has gone and formally announced the existence of Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City, the latest iteration “of horror” due for release on consoles, PCs and handheld devices later this year.

Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City is being billed as a third-person team-based shooter, only this time set in the “dark and sinister” Resident Evil universe, and will include a reinterpretation of the events we all stumbled and shot our way through in Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3.

Next year, Capcom will be gracing the Nintendo 3DS with no less than two Resident Evil titles, both of which will attempt to take full advantage of Nintendo’s stereo 3D handheld.

Capcom is already hard at work on Resident Evil: Revelations for the Nintendo 3DS, this much we know. We also know that the next instalment in the popular survival horror series promises to deliver “a new dimension in fear.”

But what we don’t know yet is what exactly is going on, is that the real Redfield, is the entire game set on a cargo ship? Perhaps these new screenshots will help us to unravel this mystery.

The 3DS is an exciting piece of hardware, not just for Nintendo or even gamers, but for the gaming industry as a whole. It is, in my humble opinion, game-changing and will change the way developers do games by removing many constraints placed upon them.

Already we’ve see many big publishers seizing the opportunity to become involved with Nintendo’s 3DS. I must confess I myself have never been a big fan of watching films on a console, to me it’s always been purely a gaming machine. But now I’m excited about the option to watch films in 3D on the 3DS because I believe it may be a better option than buying an expensive 3D TV.
