Sumthing Else Music Works, in collaboration with Capcom, have announced that the Resident Evil 5 Original Soundtrack is now available at retailers and as a digital download.
The soundtrack features the original music score from Resident Evil 5, which was laboured over by the game’s lead composer, Kota Suzuki. Suzuki comments on the development of the soundtrack, and his approach to the music, saying:
Kazuhiko Abe, CFO of Capcom, has revealed that the fifth entry to the Resident Evil series has sold an impressive five million copies since its release in March.
Speaking at the Reuters Global Technology Summit in Tokyo, Abe said that while most of that figure was made up in the month of March (approximately 4.4 million copies), 570 000 units were sold in April:
“We are still enjoying strong demand, very strong demand, that is,” said Abe.
Sales of the title in the current financial year are expected to exceed Capcom’s own forecast of 800 000 units, with a new estimate of one million copies for the year.
It was also revealed that Capcom enjoyed an eleven percent jump in operating profit for the financial year ended March 31st, on the back of strong Resident Evil 5 and Street Fighter IV sales.

Capcom have updated their impressive list of million-selling titles, with the list now containing 44 Capcom games that have sold over a million or more copies since their release.
Resident Evil 5 and Street Fighter IV have been added to the list, both of which managed to squeeze their way into the top ten best selling Capcom titles ever released, with Resident Evil 5 at No. 3 and Street Fighter IV managing a position of No. 8 – highly impressive considering their relatively recent release dates.

I have stumbled upon a picture of a T-virus infected seabird that appears to have escaped from Kijuju.
Be afraid, especially if you live on the coastline. Authorities are advising RESIDENTS to avoid these birds at all costs, unless of course you are a gamer…then you will know what to do.
If you think this is just a picture of a seabird trying to eat a starfish, then you haven’t played nearly enough Resident Evil 5.
Resident Evil 4 was such a masterpiece that the hype was truly massive for this game, so the question is “does it live up to the hype?” The short answer is: “Yes, absolutely.” The other question, “is it as good as Resident Evil 4?” is a little trickier – you see Resident Evil 5 is very different, so it all depends what you would like to get out of it. Those looking for a first rate action game will not be disappointed, but those hoping against hope for any semblance of survival horror will be.

As those of you that have bought and downloaded the extra game mode for Resident Evil 5, Versus Mode, may have seen, the download isn’t particularly large - at 1.8MB for Xbox 360 and 351KB on the PS3, it is particularly small for a bit of downloadable content (DLC).
This has led a bunch of people to the conclusion that the new mode was on the original retail disc all this time, and Capcom just wanted some extra cash to ‘unlock’ the mode with a downloadable key once the game was released. Capcom Vice President, Christian Svensson however, says otherwise:
“Keys are 100K or less. It is not a key. We have said in the past, it uses assets from the disc (like levels, models, audio, etc.) but the code is new and does not exist on the disc.”
And that’s the end of that… or is it?
Capcom has finally dated the new online multiplayer mode for Resident Evil 5. Versus mode is available to download on Xbox Live and PlayStation Network today, the 7th of April. The new mode will cost you 400 Microsoft Points on Xbox Live and $4.99 on the PlayStation Network.
Versus mode allows up to four players to fight in online battles across two different game types. Slayer’s Rule is a point-based game where players are challenged to kill Majinis while Survivor’s Rule sees players hunting each other. Begin the hunt as Chris, Sheva or other secret characters and choose from one-on-one or two-versus-two team matches for either of the gameplay styles.

The past six weeks have seen a variety of titles taking the top spot on the All Formats UK’s software chart: Street Fighter IV, Killzone 2, Empire: Total War and Resident Evil 5 for the past three weeks. However, the latest Chart Track figures show that Nintendo’s Wii Fit has climbed back to the number 1 spot with just a 1% increase in sales. Wii Fit equals Nintendo’s own longest serving All Formats number 1 record from 2000 when Pokemon Yellow held the top spot for 10 weeks.
Resident Evil 5 drops to number 2 with a 38% decrease in sales while FIFA 09 moves up three places to number 3 (3% sales increase) and Wheelman climbs seven places to number 4 (41% sales increase) over the games’ debut weekend.
A post on the Capcom Unity Blog reveals the discovery of an old trailer for Resident Evil 5 that they must have forgotten along the way to the game’s launch.
Watch below to discover what visual treats were denied Resident Evil fans who scoured through every second of footage, and every screenshot scrap, before the release of Resident Evil 5:
Resident Evil 5 remains at the top of Chart Track’s UK All Formats Software Chart this week, which makes it three weeks in a row at No. 1 for the horror action game, despite a 51% sales decline from last time.
This record of three weeks in a row now equals Resident Evil 3’s stay at the top of the chart when it was released all those years ago, while Wii Fit has to remain content with (another) chart placement at No. 2.
Just in case you were wondering about how well Resident Evil 5 is selling in the UK, you needn’t worry, as it’s still at the top of Chart Track’s UK Software Sales Chart, despite a 52% drop in sales from the week previous.
Another non-mover, Wii Fit (9% sales drop), sits resistant at No. 2, closing the sales ratio between itself and Resident Evil 5, from 5 : 1 down to 2.7 : 1. Professor Layton and the Curious Village, meanwhile, moves up to No. 3 from No. 4 last week
Sony have detailed new, upcoming updates to their online 3D social space, PlayStation Home, including an update today called the Minna de Spelunker lounge, which will be followed by Resident Evil 5 and Street Fighter IV themed areas in the next few weeks.
Today’s update adds a lounge for Irem’s PS3 downloadable title, Minna de Spelunker, where players will have access to a statue where they can start a multiplayer session of the game.
The next update is schedule for the 26th, will add an updated Resident Evil 5 Photo Studio, which includes access to a mini game that can be played simultaneously by multiple players, with Home Rewards to play for.
Included in the Photo Studio will be a shop, called Adam’s Shop, where you can buy Resident Evil 5 themed costumes in the form of Chris and Sheva outfits, marking the first time that Home has offered in-lounge shops.
Resident Evil 5 has predictably managed to steamroll the competition, shooting straight to No. 1 on Chart Tracks’ UK All Formats Software Chart this past week, despite only being on sale for two days.
Resident Evil 5 has also become the fastest selling entry to the series, and Capcom’s biggest launch game ever. The Xbox 360 version of Resi 5 claimed 55% of overall sales, while the PS3 version accounted for 45% of the total sales.
Resident Evil 5 also manages to surpass Call of Duty: World at War’s second week of sales and Fifa 09’s Christmas sales week, representing 27.1% of all revenue from consoles games this week. The title also outsells the rest of the Top Ten titles this week combined, even only by a little bit.
In a stunning announcement, Capcom have revealed that Resident Evil 5 has already shipped four million units around the world, from its initial Japanese launch on March 5th until the release around the rest of the world on March 13th.
This is the highest number of units initially shipped in the history of the Resident Evil franchise, and accounts for both the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions of the game.
We’ll just have to wait for those ‘unit sales’ numbers, but if internet talk is anything to go by, those four million units will be snapped up in no time, if they haven’t been devoured by hungry Resident Evil fans already.
Posted on MTV Mutliplayer Blog, Capcom’s Masachika Kawata has given his top twenty things that all players of Resident Evil 5 should do once they get their hands on the game. One of his suggestions?
“Use eggs (rotten?)! But don’t eat them
(Rotten) eggs can be powerful weapon when thrown. One egg can kill a Majini! Be careful not to eat it since ‘eat’ option is usually given when you have an egg.
“If you eat it by mistake, a surprising amount of energy will be lost – by half when full. Be careful!”
That was unexpected… read the rest of the list below:
