If you happened to guess which full games and downloadable content were the top sales performers on the PlayStation Network last year, what titles would have come to mind?
The PlayStation Blog has published its inaugural sales chart for PlayStation Network games, listing out the top twenty best-selling games on the service for the month of September.
Would you have guessed that Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection is at the top of the sales listing this month, followed by Resident Evil 4? Did you ever think in your wildest imaginings that Final Fantasy VII, Angry Birds and Saints Row 2 would have appeared on the same listing?
Well, find out what other games appear on this month’s PSN sales chart, and blow your mind:
In order to best celebrate the 15th anniversary of the Resident Evil franchise, Capcom recently announced that high-definition versions of Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil: Code Veronica will be released as downloadable titles for Xbox 360 (via Xbox LIVE Marketplace) and PlayStation 3 (via the PlayStation Network) this ‘Autumn.’
Both Resident Evil 4 and Code Veronica have been enhanced with “upgraded visuals,” and will also feature the addition of Trophies and Achievements to get you to creep through the games all over again.
ZeniMax Media (parent company of Bethesda Softworks and id Software) today announced that it has acquired Tango Gameworks, a game development studio founded and run by legendary game creator Shinji Mikami.
If you don’t know who Shinji Mikami is, then this wouldn’t be of much interest.
But if you knew that Mikami was the originator of the Resident Evil franchise, and has been heavily involved with renowned series such as Devil May Cry and Viewtiful Joe, as well as games such as God Hand and Vanquish, then the importance of the news increases dramatically.
Mikami said of the acquisition deal:
Capcom has announced that Resident Evil 4 for iPhone is now live on the iPhone App Store. The iPhone version of the game will cost $7.99.
Promising to deliver the best 3D graphics to date on iPhone, the game features a new location based damage system so enemies will be blasted apart where you aim. Gamers will be able to get a panoramic view of the action thanks to the third person perspective camera, shaking the iPhone or iPod Touch to reload.
Context sensitive controls pop up when they are needed, allowing gamers to perform complex actions with just one button tap. Simply press an icon to climb ladders, equip binoculars and jump out of windows. The game also includes a separate mission mode called Mercenary Mode (unlocked once the game has been played through) with pre-set goals, weapons and conditions.
