It never fails to amaze us how quickly the week goes - one day you’re posting about exciting new competitions and delivering great new reviews to the world on a videogame website, and then the next, you realise it’s nearing the end of Friday and there’s so much more left to do before the coming week.

Luckily, the release of Batman: Arkham City is going to help us ease ourselves into the weekend and relax before tackling more urgent tasks, while a few other games have arrived to serve a similar purpose.

What are these other games and will members of El33tonline be playing them this weekend? Find out in this week’s edition of the Pre-W33kend Post:

The upcoming Ratchet & Clank follows the recent trend of local four-player same-screen games and brings that kind of gameplay to the Ratchet & Clank franchise, with what looks to be great effect. At a preview last week at gamescom we got to see the latest build.

If you happened to stroll through the streets of Cologne, Germany today you couldn’t help but to notice the vast number of Uncharted 3 billboard advertisements dominating the city. This prominence is, of course, due to the gamescom videogame expo, the largest in the world, which kicks off this week and will see scores of thousands of gaming fanatics pouring through the doors of the Koelnmesse to see the latest and greatest that the videogame world has to offer.

All eyes were on Sony at E3 2011 during the week of June 6th, and everyone was expecting the company to not only reveal concrete information on its upcoming handheld, but also blow us away with brand new game announcements, with a good showing of known and upcoming games, too.

And for the most part, Sony didn’t disappoint. While there were no massive, unhinged game announcements (like, say, God of War 4 for example), we learned a whole lot more about the PlayStation Vita (including its name, obviously, and pricing) while seeing incredible new demonstrations of upcoming PlayStation 3 titles.

Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One Box Art[Update] Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One has also received a European release date of October 19th, but this is most probably for specific regions of mainland Europe. We’ll need to wait on an official date for the UK (likely October 21st) and other regions.

Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One is Insomniac Games’ latest vision for the fantastic Ratchet & Clank universe, but instead of a solo adventure through wonderful alien worlds with access to singularly powerful and unusual weaponry, All 4 One is a completely cooperative outing for Ratchet and Clank, as well as Captain Qwark and Dr. Nefarious, featuring guns and gadgets that are many times more powerful and unusual!

Following the announcement and demo of Ratchet and Clank: All 4 One at Sony’s press event during gamescom 2010, gamers were left to wonder what this four-player cooperative action game was all about for quite some time before the PlayStation Experience event in London at the beginning of February this year.

Lisa was able to get some extended hands-on time with the game during that event (read her impressions over here), and Insomniac bolstered our knowledge with the release of a new trailer and screenshots… but now we’ve got a small trickle of new images to get us excited again. Enjoy:

El33tonline at the PlayStation Experience!

During the first week of February, El33tonline Editor-in-Chief Lisa attended the PlayStation Experience event in London to get extensive eyes- and hands-on time with exceptionally exciting PlayStation 3-exclusive games including Resistance 3, MotorStorm Apocalypse, Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One, Journey, Uncharted 3 and more.

Along the way, Lisa stopped to catch a glimpse of a Dead Space 2 advert on the side of a double-decker bus… but that’s beside the point. The point is that Lisa has written up a fantastic bunch of impressions on these titles. Have you read them? It would do your gaming heart good to do so, because they’re awesome! (I didn’t write them, so I can say that.)

Here’s a handy list of Lisa’s PlayStation Experience coverage:

Lisa also gave us a detailed report on her experience at the PlayStation Experience in a previous El33tonline Podcast - you can hear that particular episode over here.
