Hmm… it’s still a good update this week for the European PlayStation Store, but not quite up to the standard of previous additions to the service.

PlayStation Network Logo But don’t lose heart! We’ve got a Quantum Theory demo to look forward to! Also, a downloadable game called Top Gun! Also, downloadable content for Mafia II, Dragon Age: Origins and Transformers: War for Cyberton.

Let’s not forget about a bunch of great price reductions on some interesting games, and the usual assortment of themes, wallpapers and Avatars, and new songs for Singstar, Rock Band and Guitar Hero.

Hey, this update isn’t looking so bad after all!

Head on down below to see the full list of content soon to become available on the European PlayStation Store:

‘The Japanese Gears of War,’ Quantum Theory, looks very… interesting. On the back of that bizarre “Gotta’ Kill It” trailer, the action shooter has been shown off in more detail during E3 2010, and that ‘Japanese Gears of War’ moniker has been enforced stronger than ever.

I’m going to say Quantum Theory is looking very ‘busy,’ graphically. Textures in the game are extremely detailed, almost to the game’s detriment, making for a visually confusing aesthetic.

I don’t quite know what to make of this latest trailer for Tecmo Koei Games’ Quantum Theory, a game many have dubbed the ‘Japanese Gears of War.’

It shows some pretty excellent CG cutscenes with an… interesting editing technique, with cuts of in-game footage thrown in here and there in-between the high quality cinematics, which ends up being quite jarring (the game doesn’t look too hot, visually).

Overall, an… unusual sort of trailer for a game that is pretty straight-forward (mechanically speaking) what with its cover-based shooting gameplay. Story-wise though, it looks anything but straight-forward…

Koei Tecmo Holdings LogoThe Koei Tecmo Holdings company has posted a third quarter loss of ¥1.84 billion ($20.4 million), and has as a result adjusted its projected year-end profit forecast from ¥7.4 billion ($81.9 million) to ¥200 million ($2.2 million).

The publisher blamed its poor quarterly results on a soft Wii market, weak overseas sales and the unfortunate decisions to postpone titles such as Team Tachyon’s Quantum Theory, and Omega Force’s RPG, Trinity: Souls of Zill O’ll RPG.

The next third-person action shooter from Tecmo Koei, Quantum Theory, has had a UK release date slapped on it, and everything looks set for a late March 26th outing for what everyone has named ‘the Japanese Gears of War.’

From the looks of the trailer and the screenshots below, is that necessarily a bad thing? Quantum Theory looks absolutely crazy!

Quantum Theory, a third-person shooter coming from Tecmo, is looking extremely exciting and well-worth any spare attention you may have lying around.

The game stars a hero character named Sid, with a heroine named Filerna also featuring. Not much else is known, but if the footage is any indication of the real game, then this is definitely one to look out for! Watch the video below to see what the fuss is about.
