We’re big fans of Japan-based developer Q-Games here at El33tonline. How could we not be when we’ve spent countless hours carefully placing towers and saving villagers in PixelJunk Monsters? And that’s not even counting the time we’ve put into PixelJunk Racers, PixelJunk Eden and PixelJunk Shooter!

So naturally we’re excited to hear that Q-Games will have three of their games on show at E3 next week.

Three!

Judging by these newly released screenshots, as well as a debut trailer, PixelJunk Shooter 2 is looking very similar to its predecessor, featuring the same brand of exploration-based puzzle shooting with similar water/lava/steam levels.

This is not a bad thing. This is a very good thing.

Q-Games’s Dylan Cuthbert has formally announced the existence of PixelJunk Shooter 2 on the US PlayStation Blog, following a reveal in Official PlayStation Magazine and hints and rumours earlier this year.

According to Cuthbert, work on the sequel to last year’s awesome exploration-based puzzle shooter is “in full production, full steam ahead, anchors away and all that,” and while he can’t say much about the game at the moment, PixelJunk Shooter 2 “will have some features that are new to the PixelJunk series in general and will be bigger than the first game!”

Until now that is, because Dylan Cuthbert, President and Executive Producer of Q-Games has announced that PixelJunk Racers 2nd Lap will be arriving on the PlayStation Network this Spring.

Q-Games has confirmed that a sequel to the popular PixelJunk Racers is in the pipeline.

This comes after the ESRB revealed last week that PixelJunk Racers 2nd Lap was en-route to the PS3. At first Dylan Cuthbert, president and executive producer of Q-Games, denied the game’s existence – a post on his Twitter account read “no idea…the ESRB always randomly rate randomly named games from randomly unnamed sources.”

Posting on his personal Twitter account, president and executive producer at Q-Games (creator of all things PixelJunk) Dylan Cuthbert has revealed that the studio’s next effort, PixelJunk Shooter, has ‘gone gold’,’ although in digital download parlance that probably just means ‘it’s done and has been approved by the platform holder.’

PixelJunk Shooter is expected to release in Japan on December 24th, exclusively on the PlayStation Network, with a release in the West not far behind.

PixelJunk developer Q-Games has released some information about the two player mode in their upcoming game PixelJunk Shooter.

According to Dylan Cuthbert, President and Executive Producer of Q Games, “we’ve tried to make co-op as de-stressed as possible, so even if your player’s ship gets hit by something or overheats and starts crashing towards the ground, you can pop out your extendible hook thing (no official name for this yet - “Grabber” perhaps?) and grab your friend (he’s a bit heavy tho, so watch out), then you can carry him to the nearest pool of water and dunk him in to restore his health. If you don’t manage to grab him in time, he’ll just re-spawn near you and you’ll be docked a life.”
