It’s no secret that I am a Tomb Raider fan. I have watched as the series grew in popularity over the years, been dismayed when it began to crumble a little over the past few years, excited when The Guardian of Light bore testament to a reawakening of the might of Lara Croft, and amazed when the new re-imagined Tomb Raider was revealed.
Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City is due to release on the Xbox 360 and PS3 this March. If you’ve been following the game as closely as we have, you’ll no doubt want to gather every morsel of information you can before the launch date.
With Ubisoft’s upcoming tactical squad-based shooter, Ghost Recon: Future Soldier, now only hitting our shelves in May, we’re going to need every bit of information we can gather to help us last the extra wait.
During El33tonline’s recent visit to Sony Online Entertainment’s Austin Studio in Texas, we had the opportunity to sit down and chat with Wes Yanagi, Senior Producer on DC Universe Online.
We go behind the scenes to find out what differentiates DC Universe Online from other MMO’s out there, what kind of continued support you can expect for your monthly subscription fee and more!
TerRover is the next game from Creat Studios, a stylised vehicle-based platformer that sees players taking control of a small off-road vehicle and navigating it through a series of different terrains on new planets, collecting valuable items along the way.
But this isn’t just any ordinary vehicle, it’s a TerRover, complete with a little head and face that changes expressions depending on what situations the players find themselves in. It will get cross when it’s stuck and be happy when it’s collecting nuts, as you can see in the first gameplay trailers from the game. This is a physics-based game so your little TerRover will be able to jump over obstacles as well as climb or fall to different heights within a level, spinning and moving obstacles in order to progress.
This is where the head’s importance comes in because the position of the TerRover’s head can be changed during the game, with the TerRover accelerating forwards or backwards depending on where the head is positioned. Of course you’ll also be able to move the position of the head from the top of the vehicle to the bottom depending on the TerRover’s orientation.
In addition to a meaty-sounding single player campaign that includes five planets and 40 levels, TerRover will also include three different types of local multiplayer modes for up to four players.
Intrigued by what we’ve seen of TerRover so far, El33tonline caught up with Creat Studios to dig deeper into the nuts and bolts behind this little off-roader. Read the Q and A with Olga Sokolova, Producer of TerRover and Scott Hyman, Vice President of Development, both from Creat Studios, below:

Lead and Gold: Gangs of the Wild West is a great little PlayStation Network and Steam title that gives you quite a bit of game for the low asking price. As an online shooter it is slowly gaining momentum with players and may just prove to be a refreshing new player in the casual shooter market alongside games like Battlefield Heroes. You can read our review of the game here.
We recently had the opportunity to ask Robert Bäckström, the producer on the title, a few questions. This is how it all went down:
We’re sure that many of you Lost Planet fans out there have already got stuck in to the new Lost Planet 2 multiplayer demo which landed on Xbox Live Marketplace yesterday (don’t worry PS3 gamers, it will arriving later today on the PlayStation Network too!) and sees up to 16 players battling it out on a new map, Turbulent Jungle, in one of two modes, Elimination or Post Grab.

Last week developer Binary Tweed announced that a new and improved version of platform-puzzle adventure Clover would be heading to the PC. This comes after Blitz Game Studios signed the new game, entitled Clover: A Curious Tale, to the Blitz Arcade’s 1UP label, making Clover one of the first Xbox Live Indie Games to be signed up and ported to other platforms.
El33tonline caught up with Daniel ‘Deejay’ Jones, Managing Director of Binary Tweed, to learn a little more about the new enhanced version. We get more details about the new puzzles, sub-quest and the low down on how many multiple endings we can expect in A Curious Tale. Jones also discusses whether we can expect a sequel to Clover and reveals if his opinions of Xbox Live Indie Games have changed.
El33tonline: According to the press release, Clover: A Curious Tale will be coming to the PC and ‘other systems.’ Any chance of expanding what these systems may be? Will Clover return to Xbox Live or perhaps debut on the PlayStation Network?
Whilst there’s nothing to announce at present, those are certainly two platforms I’d love to see the game on. If the game works on a given platform, and makes financial sense, we’ll be looking at taking it there.
Massachusetts based Creat Studios is a group that have been developing games for over 10 years (most notably Tony Hawk’s Motion on the DS and Coded Arms: Contagion on the PSP), but they have only recently begun publishing games on the PlayStation Network. They created really solid puzzle games with Mahjong Tales: Ancient Wisdom, Cuboid and Magic Ball and have since released new downloadable content for these popular games to keep gamers’ minds puzzling.
Creat Studios is also working on Smash Cars, a follow up to the developer’s 2003 no rules radio controlled racing game, as well as two other PlayStation Network games announced at E3, Digger and Mushroom Wars, and their first DSiWare game, Alien Havoc.
Since the first teaser trailer for Assassin’s Creed II surfaced in April we have learned that the next Assassin’s Creed outing will be set in Italy during the Renaissance and that we’ll be playing as the incarnate of Ezio. We also know that the development team weighs in at 450 members, roughly triple that of the team that worked on the original entry to the series, and that the sequel is scheduled to be released by the end of this year.
This week we discovered a few more things about Assassin’s Creed II. Sony showcased the game at their E3 press conference on Tuesday, with the demo showing off the architecture and setting of the Italian Renaissance (the backstory to the game is set directly after the events of the first), the use of a Renaissance-era flying machine made by a friend of yours (in the game) and introducing Leonardo Da Vinci, who will also provide you with other inventions during the course of the game. The ability to swim was also demonstrated, while the protagonist was also shown taking out two enemies at once with his two wrist-blades.
With the release of The Sims 3 just around the corner, here’s a Q & A with Associate Producer Lyndsay Pearson to give you a bit more insight into one of the team members behind the game.
Read below to find out the weirdest thing Lyndsay has done in a Sims game and who on the development team most resembles a Sim. Thanks to EA for the Q & A.
- What personality traits in The Sims 3 most closely matches your own personality, in your opinion?
If I recreated myself as a Sim I think I’d pick: Workaholic, Friendly, Neurotic, Excitable and Bookworm. I definitely work more than I should, I love to visit and chat with people, I worry about ridiculous things all the time (I’m pretty sure I left my garage door open today…), I get excited about the silliest stuff (googly eyes I can stick all over the place! YAY!) and I really love to spend hours absorbed in a good book.
The internet is abuzz with news of the new set of downloadable content for Fallout 3, The Pitt. To satisfy your curiosity and answer some of your questions about the new expansion here is a Q and A with Lead Producer Jeff Gardiner.
The Pitt will be available soon on Xbox Live Marketplace for 800 Points, hopefully later today. Although the DLC became available yesterday, it was later pulled from Xbox Live after it became apparent that the English version was corrupted.
Thanks to the Xbox Community Network for the interview.
- Let’s talk about the story behind The Pitt as a place. Apparently Pittsburgh was never hit by an atomic bomb?
Pittsburgh was never hit directly by an A-Bomb. However it’s still been ravaged by the fallout of the war; buildings crumble on their foundations, held up by rickety iron catwalks. The rivers swell with the radiation run-off of the surrounding lands. Pittsburgh itself is so highly irradiated from this it’s inhabitants slowly devolve over time into mindless, pack-hunting Trogs, barely held at bay buy the few remaining inhabitants ramshackle barriers and bright flood-lights.
