Telltale Games have proved successful over the past few years in taking various well known brands and producing episodic adventure content of a consistent quality. Puzzle Agent is different in a few ways: firstly, it’s not a well known brand, unlike Sam & Max, Wallace & Gromit or Monkey Island. Secondly, it’s not an inventory-based adventure game, it’s a puzzle game with an adventure shell similar to the Professor Layton series. Thirdly, it’s only one episode, for now. It’s a “pilot,” to use television-speak, and the success of this pilot will determine whether more episodes are created. It has a similar amount of content to the usual Telltale game, 3 to 5 hours, depending on your speed at puzzle-solving, and is of sufficient quality and enjoyment to warrant more episodes and to create a loyal following among puzzle-game fans.

Telltale Games has released a new trailer and a batch of new screenshots from their upcoming puzzling adventure game, Puzzle Agent.

Puzzle Agent promises to deliver “intriguing mystery with brain-teasing challenges” when it becomes available for the PC, Mac and WiiWare later this month for $9.95. The game comes from the mind of Graham Annable (the creator of the Grickle series of comics and animations and the publisher’s first Art Director) who lists the Professor Layton games as an inspiration.
