Influential Japanese magazine Coro Coro Comics has had a look at Pokemon Black and White 2 and come away with the very first details for Nintendo’s next ‘collect ‘em all’ RPG dual release for DS, divulging information on the main characters, the town and gym trainers, amongst other things.
They’re going to draw this out slowly, aren’t they? They’re going to take every opportunity to slowly and painfully reveal every last scrap and morsel of information leading up to release, right?
Nintendo, Game Freak and the Pokemon Company are masters of the art of building hype for their games. Not many companies can make an event of a box art or character reveal, but they can. We are but slaves to their PR cycle.
Oh well, if there’s nothing we can do about it, may as well dig in - as we await the release of Pokemon Black and White 2 on Nintendo DS later this year, have a look at the Japanese box art for the two versions of the game below:
Following that ‘surprise’ announcement of Pokemon Black 2 and Pokemon White 2 over the weekend in Japan (the surprise was that it wasn’t Pokemon Grey, but were instead numbered sequels), Nintendo of America and Nintendo of Europe have both confirmed that the pair of Pokemon titles will also see a release in their respective territories this year.
It was the announcement we were all expecting - the follow-up to Pokemon Black and Pokemon White for DS was revealed yesterday on Japanese television, but we didn’t get our beloved ‘Pokemon Grey’ title, unfortunately.
It’s an age-old question, really, and one that crops up time and again, but it’s one that might just bubble to the surface once more this week.
It’s being reported that Pokémon director Junichi Masuda has teased ‘an announcement’ of some kind this week related to the world-dominating property of collectible pocket monsters with signs pointing towards a reveal of ‘Pokemon Grey’ for 3DS - natural, of course, following the release of Pokemon Black and White.

US sales tracking and research firm The NPD Group has released its monthly report on the state of the US videogame industry. According to NPD, $1.54 billion in sales across hardware, software and accessories segments of the market was recorded for the month of March 2011, down 4% compared to the same month in 2010, despite the launch of the 3DS and the release of Pokemon Black and White.
Nintendo recently announced that the long-awaited Pokémon Global Link for Pokémon Black Version and Pokémon White Version will finally become available tomorrow, April 13th, to allow players to communicate with other players, meet new Pokémon, check worldwide battle rankings and more.
“For the first time ever,” read a press release, “a Pokémon video game incorporates dynamic, customisable, Web-only content and online options that make it even easier to communicate with fellow Pokémon Trainers anytime, anywhere.”
Following the launch of Pokemon Black Version and Pokemon White Version in the US on March 6th, Nintendo of America recently announced that combined sales of the games has reached two million units in the country after only two weeks of availability.

The mighty and epic Dragon Age 2 released around the world this past week and effortlessly claimed the top spot on Chart Track’s UK Software Sales listing, bounding in ahead of Pokemon Black and White.
Without a doubt the biggest game release of this week across all regions is Dragon Age 2 for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC, an epic fantasy RPG that finally allows us to re-enter the ancient, rich and incredible world of EA and Bioware’s Dragon Age.
With the release of Nintendo’s latest pair of Pokemon titles for the DS on March 6th, Nintendo has revealed that Pokemon Black Version and Pokemon White Version have sold a combined one million units on the first day of availability.
According to Nintendo, the sales success of Pokemon Black and White has “shattered’ previous launch sales records for the Pokemon franchise in the US, as the last (original) dual release of Pokemon, Pokemon Diamond and Pearl, ‘only’ sold 780 000 at launch.
As predicted, Nintendo’s dual-release of Pokemon Black and White (in the form of Pokemon Black Version and Pokemon White Version) has cracked Chart Track’s UK Software Sales listing wide open and occupies both No. 1 and No. 2 on the chart.

With all of the excitement surrounding the impending launch of Nintendo’s next handheld, the 3DS, you’d half expect the publishing giant to forget about it’s current consoles and upcoming slate of titles scheduled for release on those machines, but this is definitely not the case.
Nintendo UK has just released quite a comprehensive list of upcoming titles set for release on both the Wii and DS, accompanied by exact dates and vague windows just to ensure that we know that they know they definitely still care:
