Starting today and tomorrow, your PlayStation Network (PSN) account will be known as a Sony Entertainment Network (SEN) account, but the PlayStation Network service will remain.
It’s been recently reported that the entire PlayStation Network service will undergo a name change, which we now know not to be the case.
Rockstar Games has just revealed plans for new downloadable content for its popular crime thriller, LA Noire. We say popular because the game just finished top of the UK Software Charts yet again this week, and because we here at El33tonline enjoyed it too of course (read our review here).
Sony has announced that PS3 gamers can expect full PlayStation Network services to return this week. This includes the PlayStation Store and related services, like voucher redemption.
This news comes via a press release posted on the PlayStation Blog, where Sony announced that it will “fully restore all PlayStation Network services in the Americas, Europe/PAL territories and Asia, excluding Japan, Hong Kong, and South Korea by the end of this week.”
Sony has welcomed the European PS3 community back to online gaming. This comes after the publisher was able to bring its PlayStation Network service back to life following three weeks of inactivity.
Don’t you just love it when you’re trawling the internet for game news and you read about the imminent release of a promising title that you’ve never even heard about? “Red Johnson’s Chronicles” on PlayStation Network is one such game in my case.
The title is being developed by French studio Lexis Numérique, and certainly shares some similarities with another game produced in France - Quantic Dream’s Heavy Rain. Both titles are heavy on atmosphere and depict criminal investigations.
Ubisoft has stamped a release date on Beyond Good & Evil HD, the HD re-release of the cult-like PS2 classic.
Originally released on the PS2 back in 2003, Beyond Good & Evil is a story-based adventure game that’s based on a distant mining planet called Hyllis in 2435. It revolves around Jade, a photojournalist and martial artist, who is working alongside a resistance agency to expose a government conspiracy.
Sony Computer Entertainment has announced that the PlayStation Network will be going offline for roughly eleven hours today for planned maintenance, which of course means you won’t be able to play any games online, or access the PlayStation Store.

Sony has disclosed that there is a “possibility of unauthorized access to personal information on the PlayStation Store through PC’s, a content download service of the PlayStation Network.”
In a post on SCEA’s PlayStation blog and on Sony of UK’s official website, Sony has confirmed that “although unlikely, it is possible that the passwords of a small percentage of PlayStation Network users may have been changed through unauthorized access, making it possible to view users’ personal information and/or use the Wallet for the PlayStation Store.”
Sony does, however, assure users that “PlayStation Network accounts do not display entire credit card numbers, so any unauthorized access to your PlayStation Network account is very unlikely to compromise your credit card number.”
Sony has taken “immediate measures” to sort the problem out and to restore security to the system. Sony will get in touch with customers who may have been affected but they are advising PlayStation Network users to sign in to the service – it seems that your account is safe if you can sign in with your pre-set password.
