Sony Computer Entertainment has today revealed the fresh new look that PlayStation Home will enjoy starting tomorrow, November 3rd, with announcements of incredible new features and glimpses of the new ‘Hub,’ ‘Adventure District,’ and other centres of social activity in the online avatar-driven world.
Let’s kick things off with an exciting trailer showcasing just some of what’s new and upcoming in PlayStation Home:
Uncharted 3 is coming to PlayStation Home today, as Uncharted 3: Fortune Hunter creates what Sony calls a “third person adventure game experience unlike anything you’ve ever seen in PlayStation Home.”

PlayStation Home rarely offers a strong enough incentive to entice the average PlayStation 3 user to visit this advert-heavy virtual community. However, if you’re an Uncharted 3 fan you may very well want to enter Home over the next couple of weeks as an official Space for the game will go live over the next couple of days according to IGN.
The Space is based on the Yemen multiplayer map from Uncharted 3, and rather than shoot your friends in the face you can socialise with them while taking in one of the most visually appealing environments currently available in Home.

This time of year is awash with high profile gaming events. It’s just a couple of days until gamescom in Cologne, Germany and then mid-September will mark another frenzied Tokyo Game Show in Japan.
If you don’t possess the resources to fly around the world taking all these glorious sights and sounds (not to mention games) in, then at least you can still attend some of them from the comfort of your living room thanks to PlayStation Home.
PlayStation Home may seem like a dull hangout at times, with slow frame rates and advertising plastered everywhere. That said, every now and then a new space or Home-exclusive mini-game comes along which makes it worth your while to return to this curious virtual world inhabited by some of the most fanatical PlayStation users you’ll ever encounter.
North American PlayStation Home users received their ‘Welcome Back’ package early last month, but those of us in European territories have had to practise patience while Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) went about arranging complimentary content through its various partners.
The good news is that the ‘Welcome Back’ content is finally available for European Home users (including South Africans), and amounts to a pretty generous collection of odds and ends from many of the most prominent retailers in the PlayStation-themed virtual world that is Home.
PlayStation Home is not always the most interesting place to hang out, with advertising assaulting your senses from every direction instead of enjoyable, playable experiences.
However, if you’re a PlayStation fan it’s definitely worth your while to pay Sony’s virtual E3 booth a visit. It’s not going to be available for much longer so you best head on over there post-haste.
Next week, PlayStation Home is scheduled to receive an update that will add a host of feature improvements, as well as a neat-sounding ‘Group’ feature for friends to easily congregate.
Update 1.4 for this PlayStation 3 online virtual world and social network will become available on Thursday, November 11th, following a period of maintenance on that day.
Here are some of the new improvements and features promised to be added with the update:
Sony’s virtual online space for the PlayStation 3, PlayStation Home, has received a new update today (version 1.36), and with it comes a few improvements and bug fixes to make your experience a little… smoother. Better. Faster.

As was hinted at the other day in another mysterious Assassin’s Creed II video, a new trailer has been released detailing the space dedicated to the game in Sony’s PlayStation Home virtual world.
The video shows off all of the activities you’ll be able to engage in, like watching Assassin’s Creed II videos, following the Twitter feed, roaming around the space solving puzzles and looking for clues… and even play a dedicated tower defence game that’s exclusive to the room.

EA has released another batch of interesting screenshots for this year’s Medal of Honor reboot, revealing a few fellow soldiers in tense, moody situations, perhaps as they gear up and prepare for an important operation, or set out on an early morning patrol. Who knows.
With the release of the screenshots, however, comes the news that Medal of Honor will not take advantage of Sony’s newly revealed (well, the name anyway) motion controller, the PlayStation Move, as Senior Creative Director at EALA, Rich Farrelly tells videogame consumer site CVG:
Director of PlayStation Home Jack Buser has dropped everyone a message to say that Sony’s PlayStation Home virtual space will see a new version release today in the form of the 1.35 client update, which will apparently bring a host of “very significant enhancements that will make your PlayStation Home experience even better.”
The update will include improvements to Home such as faster load times, and a newly designed and streamlined login process.
Here’s a list of additional improvements:
Namco Bandai Games Europe has announced that development on Tekken 6, the sixth full entry to the famed Tekken series of fighting games, is now complete and ready for its release date on October 30th in the region, as a press release enthuses:
“With lightning fast character reaction times and consistent 60fps visuals, Tekken 6 lets players all over the world come together and compete for the status of Tekken god.”
Indeed!
The 15 year old franchise has sold a combined 34 million units across all platforms, and no-one is more chuffed with the success of the series than the Tekken Project Director, Katsuhiro Harada at Namco Bandai Games, as he says:
PlayStation Home Business Manager at Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE), Daniel Hill recently posted on the European PlayStation Blog to inform users of Sony’s virtual world, PlayStation Home, that the service has now been updated to version 1.3.
The new update brings with it a few new features and improvements, as Hill explains:
