Konami has announced that the latest downloadable content for Pro Evolution Soccer 2010 is now available for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC.
Football has been described as the beautiful game, and I am convinced that they were not talking about the actual players. It is beautiful in its tactics. It is beautiful in its sophistication. It is beautiful in its technicality. And if you know when a player is offside in football then you already know more about the sport than most people. Football has also been described as soccer, mostly to please the Americans who already used the phrase “football” for their sport where the ball almost never touches any feet. There is nothing wrong with the word soccer; it’s just not as descriptive as the word football. The same goes for Konami’s attempt at a football game. There is nothing really wrong with it; it’s just that it’s soccer, and not football.

Konami has released a new trailer showcasing the features of the Wii version of Pro Evolution Soccer 2010.
The trailer highlights the new gameplay elements in the Wii game including the new free kick system, the real time ‘Play Energy’ stamina indicator as well as Mii support.
It seems as though Pro Evolution Soccer 2010’s reign at the top of the UK Software Sales Chart was extremely short-lived, as Football Manager 2010 from SEGA heads straight to the top of the sales rankings in its debut week on sale.
Another new title this week, Wii Fit Plus, positions itself at No. 2 on the chart this week, while previous chart topper Fifa 10 (sales up 3%) is a non-mover at No. 3.
Ster Kinekor has released an official statement regarding the impact of the liquidation of Replication Technology Group (RTG) on the distribution of Ster Kinekor gaming titles.
Ster Kinekor confirmed that RTG, the previous DVD packaging supplier for Ster Kinekor Entertainment, had recently been placed in provisional liquidation. The statement went on to read “the minimum quantities RTG distributed on SKE’s behalf were marginally affected however contingency plans have been put in place ensuring no further distribution issues moving forward.”
Last week El33tonline gave 5 lucky readers the chance to be the first in South Africa to get some hands-on time with PES 2010.
Well, if you want to find out a bit more about what happened at the event (which was held in Johannesburg this past weekend at the Ster-Kinekor Head Office), what prizes the readers walked away with and how epic the day was, read below for Jarred Milner’s round-up of the PES 2010 event.
PES 2010 event = Awesome
“El33tonline recently had a competition offering the chance to win tickets to the PES 2010 launch event in South Africa. Let me tell you, if you are a football fan, you did not want to miss out on this opportunity. I am glad to say that I was one of the lucky winners and what ensued, was quite possibly the greatest day of gaming, ever. Here is a small review of my day at the event.
Newly released Pro Evolution Soccer 2010 has managed to knock Fifa 10 off of its perch to become the No. 1 best selling game in the UK, in Chart Track’s UK Software Sales Chart for last week.
[Update] PES 2010 platform sales breakdown revealed.
While PES 2010 didn’t manage to match its predecessor’s launch week sales figures, selling 39% less in its first week on sale on the same number of formats (PS3, Xbox 360 and PC), it did continue the trend of performing better on the PS3, claiming 66% of PES 2010’s sales on that platform, as the Xbox 360 managed 32% of the sales, and the PC a mere 2%.
[End of Update]
Pro Evolution Soccer 2010 (PES) releases today on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC (and mobile), but the soccer/football fans amongst us didn’t really need reminding of this fact.
What is a little extraordinary is that Konami, the developer and publisher of the classic series, has decided to ship over three million copies of the game to retail in anticipation of what they expect to be a blockbuster release.
Konami predicts PES 2010 will be a million-selling title at launch, contributing to the 55.5 million units the franchise has already sold, according to European Marketing, PR Director, Konami Digital Entertainment, Martin Schneider:
We have drawn the winners in our PES 2010 competition. Congratulations to Jarred Milner, Lance Paiken, Moshe Shevel, Matthew Yun and Charlie Kung who will be among the first to enjoy the PES 2010 action in South Africa. Enjoy!
Thanks to everyone for entering and to Ster Kinekor for sponsoring this awesome competition.

In an effort to show off the incredible attention to detail present in their upcoming football sim, Pro Evolution Soccer 2010, Konami has released a batch of mug shots revealing England’s pride and joy of the football world in up-close-and-personal detail.
Konami’s PES 2010 team aims to bring “unrivalled realism to the world of virtual football,” as well as the “most realistic control system imaginable” and “the most lifelike representations of players ever seen.” Hefty tasks indeed.
You’ll be able to get your hands on all of that innovation on October 23rd when PES 2010 releases on PS3, Xbox 360 and PC. For now though, you can take a gander at a bunch of close-ups of your favourite English footballers below:
