That Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2! What a rascal!

Not content to dominate the Xbox LIVE Activity ranking for weeks and months on end, and even with incredibly stiff competition in the form of Battlefield: Bad Company 2, Modern Warfare 2 is still able to remain the No. 1 most played Xbox 360 game on Xbox LIVE.

Xbox LIVE Logo SmallerWith the release of the Stimulus Package downloadable content (DLC) this week, and the Bad Company 2’s own map-pack, that battle for the top spot is only going to intensify in the coming weeks, but I have a sneaking suspicion that Modern Warfare 2 is going to keep that No. 1 position for the foreseeable future. Just a hunch.

Somehow, Xbox LIVE’s Game Room is at the top of the top of the best sellers list of Xbox LIVE Arcade games, even though the base download is free (unless the chart is counting games purchases), as last week’s No. 1, Perfect Dark, sits at No. 2 and Toy Soldiers contents itself with No. 3

New Xbox Indie Games The Impossible Avatar Getaway sits at No. 1 as the best selling game on this list, as Avatar Showdown and I MAED A GAM3 W1TH Z0MB1ES!!!1 hover at No. 2 and No. 3 respectively.

In a stunning turn of events (depending on your game of choice), Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is still right there at the top of Xbox LIVE’s Activity ranking, remaining the No. 1 most played game on the service for yet another week running, despite valiant attempts at the crown from Halo 3, Battlefield: Bad Company 2, Call of Duty: World at War and Fifa 10.

Xbox LIVE Logo SmallerAs for best selling Xbox LIVE Arcade titles, the newly released Perfect Dark remake sits atop this particular list ahead of last week’s top seller Toy Soldiers, and weekly top three charter Trials HD.

The top of the list of best selling Xbox LIVE Indie titles is completely unchanged from last week, as Avatar Showdown, The Impossible Game and I MAED A GAM3 W1TH Z0MB1ES!!!1 continue their unchallenged dominance. Who will save us from their tyranny?

Xbox 360 Party Larry ‘Major Nelson’ Hryb has been good enough to unveil the full release schedule for the next month or so of Xbox LIVE Marketplace content, including Deals of the week, Games on Demand, Xbox LIVE Arcade Games, Avatar accessories and game add-ons, as well as dates and prices for the content.

N64 gamers from back in the day will fondly remember Perfect Dark, not only for the singleplayer campaign but probably mostly for the split-screen multiplayer frag-fests, blurry textures and low polygon models.

Rare and Microsoft have been busy lately trying to resurrect this classic first-person shooter from the ‘good old days’ for Xbox 360 gamers by gutting the assets and replacing them with higher quality textures, models and sounds, as well as bringing the title up to date with online capabilities and Xbox LIVE functionality.

A little further below, you can catch a few good glimpses (or one long extended stare) at what could very well be the first publicly released in-game footage of this new version of Perfect Dark (releasing on Xbox LIVE Marketplace this March for $10), which is looking incredibly sharp indeed:

According to a Twitter post by Larry ‘Major Nelson’ Hryb, the Xbox LIVE Arcade version of Rare’s classic N64 first-person shooter, Perfect Dark, will be arriving on Xbox LIVE Marketplace “in a few months.” From his tweet:

“For those asking: Perfect Dark Zero will be coming to Arcade in a few months. That’s all the info I have.”

Even though Major Nelson did say Perfect Dark Zero (the Xbox 360 game), he later noticed his mistake and tweeted:
