At PAX East over the weekend, former videogame journalist (now videogame consultant) N’Gai Croal and Kotaku deputy editor Stephen Totilo hosted an extremely interesting (and what sounded like an extremely entertaining) panel that tried something a little different in trying to come up with a ‘best ever’ list of games, by enlisting the help of not only the audience gathered to witness the panel, but a group of top industry luminaries who had agreed to help shape and evolve an original list into something they felt was a little more accurate.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time

The original list of top ten ‘best games of all time’ upon which these proceedings were based was taken from that currently registered at Gamerankings.com, based on reviews aggregated by that site. By the end of the panel, that list (which follows below) was barely recognisable:

PAX East Logo As those of you fortunate enough to be in Boston, Massachusetts today (or on your way there) already know, the East Coast edition of the Penny Arcade Expo (PAX) begins a little later today, kicking off three days of gaming and geekdom celebration (in all the right ways!).

PAX East LogoThe Penny Arcade Expo taking place in Boston this year, better known as PAX East, is all set for the weekend of March 26th to the 28th, and in order to entertain the crowds set to gather at the event, a number of high profile indie game developers and triple-A publishers have been confirmed to be making an appearance at the show, including the likes of Twisted Pixel and The Behemoth, as well as Microsoft, Nintendo and 2K Games.

Also making an appearance at PAX East are a number of nerdcore music acts, including Jonathan Coulton, Anamanaguchi and MC Frontalot, amongst others.

By the way, if you intend attending PAX East, you’d better make it snappy and book your place ASAP. It could already be too late…
