EL33TONLINE: News tag archive: patch
After it was announced back in September that a multiplayer patch was on the way, the team at The Behemoth are convinced that they’re finally on the road to releasing the fix, as they claim:
“We’re working with Microsoft to get the title update out as quickly as we can. Sadly, we can’t get into details about the certification process, but we’ve resolved the game’s issues with data loss and networking in addition to other bugs.”
“We can’t really comment on the release yet as we’re not allowed to talk about it because of Microsoft, but the update’s release is definitely reaching the end of the process.”
Well, the title says it all; the PlayStation 3 version of Grand Theft Auto IV has been patched to include support for the PS3’s Trophy system of achievements (Trophies being the PS3’s version of Achievements, in case you’re still wondering).
As reported on PS3 Fanboy, the patch is now available worldwide, but you’ll need to play the game all over again to win those Trophies as the rewards are not retroactive. Sigh in dismay or shout with joy, as it applies.
For all those that took the plunge and decided to create new creatures and worlds of your own in Spore, there’s a patch available to make your universe domination and gene-splicing experiences even better.
To get the patch, simply launch your EA Download Manager to automatically download and install. For a manual install, you can also get the patch over here. While this patch is only available to PC players on the minute, a Mac patch is also inbound.

After a small bit of excitement was caused by the announcement that Fable 2 online co-operative play wouldn’t be included on the Fable 2 disc, it was revealed that developers Lionhead were feverishly working on making the feature available on day one of the game’s release via a download.
It’s now been announced that the patch is finished and Fable 2 players will indeed be able to play online co-op the day they buy the game. From Lionhead’s front page:
“Terrific news! Lionhead and Microsoft Game Studios confirmed today that the online co-op “Fable II” multiplayer feature update is confirmed for a first day free download on Xbox LIVE, worldwide (21st October). We are pleased to provide “Fable II” fans around the world with the chance to hop in and out of their friend’s “Fable II” worlds, to meet their heroes, dogs, spouses and experience Albion, together online. “Fable II” will be available at retailers throughout North America on October 21 and across Europe on October 24.
Well done to the team in the US and over here in Guildford!”
Well done indeed!
While there may have been a bit of a furore over whether or not Fable II’s much-anticipated online co-operative mode would be available when the game ships, it seems the storm can be quelled, somewhat.
The game disc will not ship with online co-op enabled, but a patch will be available on the first day of the title being available, so you will probably be prompted to update once you pop in the disc. That’s the plan, anyway. According to the Lionhead blog:
“Remember a couple of days ago (or was it a week) where on a blog it was mentioned that Fable II would be shipping ‘without’ Online Co-op? And remember we said we were busting our balls to get it ready in time for a ‘Day One’ release? Well - news folks! It looks like we’ve done it…for all of you who are connected to Xbox Live, when starting up your copy of Fable II (on 21st October in USA, 24th October in Europe and 18th December in Japan). So all of you getting upset and all, you wouldn’t even have noticed… Sort of. Well done to the team.
Taken into account we don’t fail certification!”
Lionhead chief Peter Molyneux tried to assure the fans, regarding the patch:
Great news for Street Fighter fans, the patch for Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix Beta is now available.
Just start the Beta and the patch will update automatically. The patch fixes quite a few problems but I will mention a few specifically pointed out on Capcom’s blog. The title no longer crashes when joining games so all online functions are up and running and netcode optimizations have been made which mean that the overall online experience should be 50% better.
Despite wanting to add more characters due to gamers’ requests, Capcom noted that it was not technically possible to add more characters to the patch.
Remember that you will only be able to download the Beta if you purchased Wolf of the Battlefield: Commando 3 on XBLA (which is available for 800 Microsoft Points). The Beta has been extended to the 5th of September.
Settle down, Capcom is working on a patch for the Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix beta.
According to the Capcom blog, the patch will have “several fixes for the open beta” and will “vastly improve” the overall experience in the beta. More details were promised shortly.
Players who downloaded the XBLA title Wolf of the Battlefield: Commando 3 could also download the Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix beta. However, soon after the beta went live freezing problems were reported and Capcom announced that it would not be issuing a patch for the beta.
Rockstar Games has released new patches for the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of Grand Theft Auto IV.
The patches fix issues that have been identified for each system by Rockstar but target multiplayer connectivity issues specifically, including freezes during certain modes, continuation when players leave matches and bugs within races and race lobbies.
“We sincerely apologize for any inconveniences and thank you for your continued support.” says Rockstar.
Head over to the Rockstar Social Club website for a detailed list of the issues which have been fixed by the patches.
