Codemasters have announced the existence of two new Overlord games, one a spin-off game for the Wii called Overlord: Dark Legend, and the other, a true Overlord sequel, called, naturally, Overlord II.

Overlord: Dark Legend for Wii is a whole new action adventure game designed exclusively for the console set before the time period of the original game, as players take control of a new, young Overlord, commanding minions and protecting the Overlord’s castle and lands with every sinister trick you can muster.

Taking full advantage of the Wii Remote, Dark Legend gives players more control over their minions and also more abilities as a result of the motion-based control method, such as grabbing a minion, shaking him up and turning him into a explosive minion missile. You can watch a debut trailer for Overlord: Dark Legend below:

Overlord II, on the other hand, is being developed for PC, Xbox 360 and PS3 and represents a true sequel to the original Overlord. Taking control of a minion horde, the Overlord will take on an entire empire, inspired by the Roman Empire, in large-scale battles involving everything from magic, weaponry, special abilities and wolf mounts – yep, this time, the minions can saddle up on a variety of creatures to get around the battlefield faster.
