No More Heroes: Heroes’ Paradise is a strange dichotomy. On one hand, it boasts hilarious references to Otaku culture and dialogue, general Japanese quirkiness and slickly directed cut-scenes. The cell-shaded art style employed for the game’s colourful cast of characters is really distinctive, as are their manic personalities.
On the other hand, this port of the original Wii version has dated graphics, a collection of technical problems, and doesn’t make full use of the supported PlayStation Move motion controller - slicing and dicing a stream of enemies in a limited number of ways can feel repetitive, despite the flashy presentation that director Suda51 is famous for.

Today’s reopening of the PlayStation Store has brought plenty of great new content to living rooms around the Western world (sadly Asia is left out of the fun for now).
One of these tempting items is the Move-enabled No More Heroes: Heroes’ Paradise demo. It’s only available on the UK store for now, but hopefully it will be published in short order on the South African and North American variants too.
A few weeks ago, a high definition, ‘next generation’ version of No More Heroes was announced into existence in the form of No More Heroes: Heroes’ Paradise, coming to Xbox 360 and PS3 early next year.
The originally Wii-based franchise (which will be receiving another entry on that platform around the same time) is well known for its roster of eclectic, creative characters, and by the looks of this newly released Japanese trailer for No More Heroes: Heroes’ Paradise, this tradition is set to return with a cast of personalities that Metal Gear Solid would be proud of.

According to scans from Japanese games magazine Famitsu, and reports from Siliconera, an entry to Grasshopper Manufacture and Suda 51’s action game series, No More Heroes, will be appearing on the Xbox 360 and PS3, foregoing the series’ preferred platform (i.e. the Wii) in favour of the higher definition consoles.
Tentatively titled No More Heroes: Heroes’ Paradise, the game will feature new modes, Japanese voice acting (as opposed to English voice acting in the Japanese version) and traditional control input (as opposed to Wii motion controls).
Heroes’ Paradise is said to be releasing on February 25th next year for between 5 040 and 5 800 Yen (between $56 and $65).
There’s no word yet on how this new game will affect the upcoming No More Heroes 2 for the Wii, which is also slated for a release in early 2010.
