The UK 3DS eShop has been a far more lively place of late thanks to the availability of new demos on a weekly basis. This week 3DS gamers can look forward to scoring themselves a sample of Nintendogs + Cats when the eShop update goes live on Thursday.
Following a similar announcement for Europe last month, it’s been revealed that South Africa will also enjoy an additional two 3DS colour choices this holiday when the Coral Pink and Ice White models of Nintendo’s latest handheld become available.
Nintendo Europe has today announced that the 3DS will soon become available in an additional two colours in the region: Ice White and Coral Pink.
Following a Nintendo earnings call and investor report (and an exciting piece of news about a successor to the Wii), the company has revealed new life-to-date sales numbers for its top-selling titles across the DS, Wii and 3DS for the period ending March 2011.
All bundled together in a helpful list, every Nintendo title appearing on this chart is very special indeed. Why?
Because they’ve all sold over one million copies apiece!
When Nintendo’s 3DS launches in South Africa on March 25th, gamers in the country can expect an excellent line-up of games across a range of genres to keep them occupied on day-one, while soon after the release of the stereoscopic portable console, another wave of fantastic titles will become available.
For now though, here are the games South Africans can expect to see on day-one when the Nintendo 3DS launches on March 25th:
The 3DS is an exciting piece of hardware, not just for Nintendo or even gamers, but for the gaming industry as a whole. It is, in my humble opinion, game-changing and will change the way developers do games by removing many constraints placed upon them.
Already we’ve see many big publishers seizing the opportunity to become involved with Nintendo’s 3DS. I must confess I myself have never been a big fan of watching films on a console, to me it’s always been purely a gaming machine. But now I’m excited about the option to watch films in 3D on the 3DS because I believe it may be a better option than buying an expensive 3D TV.
During Nintendo’s recent shareholder meeting at the company’s headquarters in Kyoto, Japan on Tuesday, a few choice pieces of information emerged regarding possible future directions for star designer Shigeru Miyamoto’s games.
They may seem like throwaway comments… and they probably are, but Miyamoto has a habit of telegraphing what games he’s working on based on the discussion of his hobbies: his interest in gardening lead to the creation of Pikmin. The addition of a dog to the Miyamoto household produced Nintendogs. And when the legendary game developer became obsessed with measuring his waist and weighing himself, Wii Fit was born.
More recently, Miyamoto casually mentioned that he found cats interesting. Lo and behold, Nintendogs + Cats was just announced at E3 2010.
You see where I’m going with this.
So when Miyamoto talks about his hobbies and extra curricular activities, gamers, investors, current shareholders and even other game designers had better take note.
What’s Miyamoto been up to lately?
Nintendo’s recently unveiled stereoscopic 3D handheld console, the 3DS, will see a number of new games from a multitude of developers and publishers in the coming months, but Nintendo itself is determined to provide gamers with their own brand of videogames to further flesh out the console’s software offerings.
Amongst these new titles from Nintendo is a new Nintendogs game called Nintendogs + Cats, which (you guessed it) will feature the addition of those unpredictable little fluff balls, ‘Cats,’ to the virtual pet simulator.
