Quick Time Events… those little moments in time during a game in which you’re asked to input a series of button presses, according to an on-screen indicator, in order to perform a required in-game action and progress further in the game.

Quick Time Events… they’ve been in use in some form or another since the early days of gaming, from Dragon’s Lair and Road Blaster in the mid-eighties, to Parappa the Rapper and Shenmue in the late nineties, all the way to present day gaming with the likes of God of War, Resident Evil 4 and 5, music rhythm games, Heavenly Sword, Uncharted… and Ninja Blade.

Quick Time Events… some people love them, some people hate them, and some people think they’re OK. Your feelings on the matter, though, will be directly proportional to whether or not you’ll be interested in Ninja Blade, a third-person, action-adventure slash ‘em up by developers From Software and Microsoft. Created in the image of Ninja Gaiden, but struggling to match that series’ intricate combat system, Ninja Blade still manages to inject a good story into some enjoyable action encounters, but provides more Quick Time Events (QTEs) than you’ll ever care to participate in.

Ninja Blade Box artThe latest news from Microsoft is that Ninja Blade has gone gold. This Xbox 360 exclusive will be available in South Africa on the 4th of April.

Developed by FromSoftware (known for the Tenchu franchise and Armoured Core), Ninja Blade sees Ken Ogawa and his team of skilled fighters battling a terrifying disease that transforms Tokyo citizens into an infected monster horde.

Players will be armed with ninja weapons and abilities including Ninja Vision and Todomé Attack as they take on challenges in their mission to save humanity.

Ninja Blade will be available at an estimated price of R699. For more information about the game as well as intriuging screenshots and trailer, don’t miss our previous coverage.

Ninja Blade, a ninja action game coming to Xbox 360 from developers From Software, tells a story bereft with battles against overwhelming odds, betrayal, a disease spreading throughout the city of Tokyo, and lots of monsters generally making a nuisance of themselves.

It’s up to the hero, Ken Ogawa, and his highly trained team to take down the threat and unravel the mystery of the monster horde’s source, as well as how and why they were betrayed by their very own organisation. Sounds intriguing!

Microsoft recently revealed Ninja Blade, an Xbox 360 exclusive currently in development at FromSoftware.

This action thriller sees players defending Tokyo and ultimately mankind from a genetically mutating disease armed with specialized ninja tools, weapons and skills. While details for the game are still scarce, you can check out this teaser trailer to get a taste of the building-running, demon-slashing game play.

While it may be an absolutely generic name for a game, Ninja Blade has been announced by Microsoft, in development at From Software. While it’s nothing more than a teaser for the full game, it looks suspiciously like Ninja Gaiden, interestingly enough.

Set in Tokyo and featuring real-world locations (such as Shinjuku Station), players will face all manner of beasts and demons in and around the city, with cinematics and gameplay merging seamlessly, apparently. Lost Planet designer Keiji Nakoka is said to be attached to the project. Hopefully Ninja Blade can live up to the building-running, demon-slashing gameplay shown in the trailer.
