Last week I posted an article highlighting the fact that four free Dark Souls dynamic themes were available on the Japanese PlayStation Store. Today five more dynamic themes have been added to the Store and are now available to download along with last week’s offerings.

Imagine a world where any surface - not only floors, but walls and ceilings too - could be augmented by gravity at any time to become a new place to walk. Imagine a world where gravity itself was able to be toggled on and off as you please.

The Need for Speed franchise has been very active of late, with two new games in the series being released in the last six months – Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit and SHIFT 2 Unleashed. EA is clearly keen to utilise the Need For Speed name while it’s still resonant in gamers’ minds judging by yesterday’s confirmation of a brand new title in the franchise.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2 Logo

Steel your nerves and prepare for your first glimpses at Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 (y’know, the videogame), the direct sequel to last year’s third-person action adventure game of (almost) the same name.

It’s kind of creepy to begin with, but after Hermione actress Emma Watson is replaced with quick cuts and in-game footage from Part 2 of the series, the trailer gets downright disturbing!

Xbox LIVE Logo SmallerTwo new Xbox LIVE Arcade games of polar opposite content have hit the ol’ Xbox LIVE Marketplace this day in the form of the fast-paced side-scrolling platform game, The Fancy Pants Adventures, and the sci-fi first-person shooter, Section 8: Prejudice.

We’ve collected together fantastic launch trailers for both games as well as a handful of screenshots, and combined with the included official descriptions and pricing details, you’ll be able to decide if either of the titles is worth a closer look.

We can all agree that last year’s Halo: Reach was pretty much outstanding, with an awesome singleplayer campaign and a rich multiplayer portion included. But as good as the online component in Halo: Reach is, if you play the same multiplayer maps over and over (and over and over) again, you bound to get a little tired of them eventually.

This is why Halo franchise stewards 343 Industries and development partner Certain Affinity teamed up to create a new set of maps for Halo: Reach multiplayer!

Halo: Reach - Defiant Map Pack Screenshot 1

Called the Defiant Map Pack, this new content comprises three all-new multiplayer maps for competitive and Firefight modes, and Certain Affinity has done a terrific job of instilling these levels with a rich sense of history in line with the Halo universe.

If you would like the chance to win the Defiant Map Pack for use in Halo: Reach, then we’ve got good news! El33tonline and Xbox 360 South Africa have teamed up to give away two download codes for this multiplayer map pack, and you could win one by answering an easy question at our Halo: Reach Defiant Map Pack Competition page!

Nintendo Grey Logo

Following the release of November’s NPD sales numbers, Nintendo has sent out a pre-emptive statement regarding the sales performance of its Wii and DS consoles in the US, and according to the NPD sales tracking group and Nintendo’s own internal numbers, their gaming devices sold pretty dang well this past month.

Bulletstorm Logo

Yesterday! We got to watch a video and sneak our first glimpses at two of the multiplayer modes included in People Can Fly’s off-the-charts insane first-person shooter, Bulletstorm, in the form of the enemy wave-based ‘Anarchy,’ and the online leaderboard-based ‘Echo.’

Today! Publisher EA has released a batch of screenshots showcasing action from multiplayer Anarchy, as well as the singleplayer portion of Bulletstorm.

Now! Do you understand that header? Both kinds of… ‘player’?

… Just go and look at the new screenshots:

Platinum Games was in real danger of releasing two serious ‘Game of the Year’ contenders in 2010, with Bayonetta earlier this year, and now Vanquish, the developer’s latest game.

Featuring at least a few new game mechanic tricks and a heap of gameplay refinements, Vanquish is at its heart a third-person cover-based action shooter in the same vein as Gears of War, only once you’ve seen all there is to see in Vanquish, and you’ve carved your way through every combat encounter you’re challenged with in this game, Gears of War’s gameplay situations will seem extremely tame in comparison.

Vanquish Screenshot 2

Even during the tutorial I was shaking my head in disbelief at the insane abilities you have access to in Vanquish, and my eyes glazed over thinking of the possible gameplay scenarios to come – pure craziness was sure to ensue!

Not… quite.

I won’t deny that Vanquish includes insane battles with extreme amounts of visual insanity exploding all over the screen, but despite the fun of the core shooting gameplay matched with excellent levels that enable some memorable enemy encounters, the developers don’t do enough to fully exploit what’s unique about their game and unfortunately leave it to the player to have fun in their world, rather than manually renew and refresh the experience with effective pace changers and original challenges.

3D Ultra MiniGolf Adventures 2 XBLA Box Art Let’s see here, what new games are up on Xbox LIVE Arcade today… hmm. It’s quite an eclectic pair. An ‘extreme’ arcade pinball game, and an arcadey minigolf game, both of which look pretty dang interesting…

Oh, hello, I didn’t see you there! I guess you’d like to know what I’m muttering to myself about, huh?

Well I was just busy with a monologue about what new games have hit Xbox LIVE Arcade today, and it looks as though Pinball FX2 and 3D Ultra MiniGolf Adventures 2 have both arrived on Xbox LIVE Marketplace.

You can find out more about both of these titles with some official information included below, as well as a trailer and screenshots:

El33tonline LogoHey everyone, it’s Heritage Day here in South Africa, and you know what that means? It’s time to party like we… uh, time to “celebrate the diverse cultural heritage that makes up a ‘rainbow nation.’”

It also just so happens to be National Braai Day in the country!

We sure are a diverse bunch!

As a result of the festivities, we’ll only resume posting on Monday. Enjoy the weekend!

RAGE Logo 1

During the recently concluded QuakeCon 2010 event, John Carmack revealed that not only would the company’s first-person shooter, RAGE, be heading to the iPhone with a diminutive, fully featured version of the game as a visual showcase, but another more substantial version of RAGE would release in time for the launch of the full, all-singing all-dancing console and PC version of the title.

We now know when RAGE will release on these platforms, and that DLC is definitely planned for the game.

There is something about games made by Treasure that makes them utterly unique. They’re usually brutal, old-school, tough-as-nails shooters that give no quarter or respite. Sin & Punishment: Successor of the Skies is no different. The control system is unique, but the sense of overwhelming odds followed by joy at overcoming them is the same as in other Treasure games.

The original Sin & Punishment appeared on the Nintendo 64, and it didn’t get released in Europe until it finally made an appearance on the Wii Virtual Console as an import title. Fortunately for Wii owners looking for a bit of punishingly tough dodging and shooting, this time it has made it to Europe.

A brand new trailer has been released for Capcom’s fighter, Marvel VS Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds, showing new action sequences as The Hulk and Resident Evil’s Chris Redfield go head-to-head, and Dante (Devil May Cry) and Deadpool face-off against one another too.

Marvel VS Capcom 3 Logo

Some sort of apocalyptic happening is also hinted at towards the end of the video, while other hints include the addition of new characters Chun-Li, and possibly Doctor Doom, to the Marvel VS Capcom 3 roster.

What are other characters can you spot in the silhouettes?
