Mortal Kombat Vita is now available to purchase from the US PlayStation Store and will be released in European territories on Friday (May 4th). Featuring all the DLC characters from the console release as well as Vita-exclusive costumes and mini-games, this is one of the most feature-rich titles currently available on the handheld.
The PS Vita version of last year’s Mortal Kombat reboot becomes a more attractive purchase with each passing week. If extra characters, a new Challenge Tower and an augmented reality stage don’t do it for you, then how about a range of exclusive klassic skins for some of the deadliest ninjas in the game?
The PS Vita version of Mortal Kombat is only a couple of weeks away and its release signals the end of the software drought we’ve been experiencing ever since the handheld’s launch.
Mortal Kombat Vita is remarkable for a number of reasons. Firstly, it has more content than the console version despite it being for a portable platform. Secondly, it is the only Vita title I know of that uses Unreal Engine 3 - one of the most widely used game engines of this generation. Mortal Kombat Vita runs at 60 frames per second and retains all the animated backgrounds from the original. This is a notable improvement over the Vita launch title Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 which features static stages (aside from 2D particle effects) in order to maintain 60fps.
One of the PS Vita’s biggest post-launch releases is just a few weeks away. NetherRealm Studios has been hard at work optimising Mortal Kombat for the handheld while throwing in plenty of extras for gamers who already own the original on PS3 or Xbox 360. Some of these additions include all the DLC characters from the console release along with 150 new Challenge Tower missions, some of which are designed around these extra characters’ special abilities.
There’s been a lot of talk regarding PS Vita’s ability to offer a console-like experience on the go. This seems particularly true for the fighting genre, as Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 recently demonstrated. Mortal Kombat is the next fighting game on the horizon and rather than being a straight port of last year’s PS3 / Xbox 360 title, it packs in a new Challenge Tower along with all the DLC characters from the console release.
One of the most exciting games coming to the PS Vita in the next couple of months is Mortal Kombat. This is a full port of the PS3 version that includes all the DLC characters released thus far as well as an all-new Challenge Tower that takes advantage of the Vita’s touch and motion controls.
Finally, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and NetherRealm Studios have released the most comprehensive version of the publisher/developer pair’s brutal fighting game, Mortal Kombat, with all of the game’s downloadable content now available in one package.
That’s right! Mortal Kombat Komplete Edition is now out in the US and launches later this week, March 2nd, around the rest of the world on Xbox 360 and PS3, and it’s very easy to get excited all over again with the crushing launch trailer for the game below:
There have been a number of exclusive PS Vita features and modes announced for Mortal Kombat already, such as touch screen fatalities and a new Challenge Tower that makes use of the Vita’s unique capabilities.
We’ve known for a while that Mortal Kombat will be released on PS Vita during the second quarter of 2012, but videos of the game in motion have been non-existent up until now.
Mortal Kombat on PS3 and Xbox 360 is a great-looking title so I was very curious to see how the game’s fantastic Unreal Engine 3 visuals translated to the PS Vita.
Warner Bros. Interactive and developer NetherRealm Studios have confirmed today the the pair’s latest crushing fighting game, Mortal Kombat, will indeed make an appearance on Sony’s PS Vita handheld.
Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and developer NetherRealm Studios have today formally announced the existence of Mortal Kombat Komplete Edition for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
What’s so ‘Komplete’ about the game? It includes all of the previously released downloadable content in one package.
NetherRealm Studios has been releasing new characters for Mortal Kombat over the last couple months, adding new Kombatants Rain, Kenshi and Scarlet in quick succession, all the while teasing a fourth new and mysterious addition to the roster.
Who is this new character that can go toe-to-toe with the meanest, most skilled and supremely brutal fighters we’ve yet witnessed in a videogame?
None other than the master of nightmares himself, Freddy Krueger.
The next downloadable Mortal Kombat character has been more fully detailed in a new gameplay trailer, this time featuring the frantic moves of the water elemental ninja, Rain.
Rain is set to become available to purchase and download for Mortal Komabt on July 19th – check him out in action in the new video as he performs all kinds of cruel water- and lightning-based attacks on his unsuspecting foes:
A new Mortal Kombat fighter is now available for purchase and download to extend the game’s roster of combatants, because Kenshi has just arrived on Xbox LIVE Marketplace and the PlayStation Network!
Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and NetherRealm Studios are eager to let everyone know that the promised Skarlet downloadable content is now available for Mortal Kombat, the publisher and developer’s outstanding (and brutal) fighter.
