The latest entry to the high octane series of Need For Speed arcade racers was unleashed around the world just last month and players have hailed the game’s use of Autolog to once again allow us to compare and beat our friends’ race times, while the intense action and hugely impressive visuals have also drawn high praise.
We’re of course talking about Need For Speed: The Run, an out-of-control racer that we here at El33tonline are particularly fond of, and now thanks to the release of the latest title update, we can become even more fond of EA’s awesome game.
Need For Speed: The Run recently sped out into the world across Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC and El33tonline thinks very highly of it indeed - read Lisa’s heart-stopping review of this out of control racer to find out why we think it’s the best Need For Speed yet!
Coincidentally, El33tonline and EA South Africa recently got together to give away copies of Need For Speed: The Run across all platforms, and all you had to do to stand a chance of winning was tell us what you thought of the game’s added gameplay mechanic of ‘out-of-the-car’ action - and tell us you did!
Who amongst you managed to win a copy of Need For Speed: The Run?
“Three miles to go, four opponents to beat, hairpin bends to conquer and the cops are driving hard and fast…‘pull over’ he yells – not a chance.”
This is just a taste of what you’ll experience as you get behind the wheel in Need for Speed: The Run, the new arcade racer from EA and Black Box that delivers the same adrenaline pumping out-of-control racing experience that we enjoyed in last year’s excellent Hot Pursuit.

A little while ago we received our invite for the Need for Speed: The Run launch. Apart from the date, time and venue, EA was keeping the details close to their heart, but we knew it was at Kyalami which made us excited about what they had in store for us.
A week later we received an indemnity form which disclosed we would be participating in drifting, and my excitement built even further because it’s got to be cool if it’s so dangerous that we have to sign an indemnity, right?
[Update] Added a few tasters from the event below. [End of Update]
Want to catch glimpses and details of the currently-on-the-go launch event for Need For Speed: The Run, hosted by EA South Africa at Kyalami today?

The world’s best ‘Director of Explosions and Robots,’ Michael Bay, recently teamed up with EA and the development team behind Need For Speed: The Run to create a uniquely cinematic trailer for the game, with enough action, explosions and high octane racing to make even Hollywood jealous of how far games have come.
It’s quite something and you can definitely see some of Bay’s touches during the trailer, in particular some of the camera angles, fades and long, panning views.
In short, it’s spectacular, and once you’re done watching it below, you can also watch the making of the trailer with Michael Bay, Christina Hendricks and developers:
Need something to get your pulse racing and keep you going until the end of the day?
Then this Need For Speed: The Run multiplayer trailer will do very nicely, with hectic quick cuts and high octane chases through the open roads of the United States.
