At the PlayStation Move press conference in San Francisco earlier today, Sony Computer Entertainment America’s Jack Tretton revealed that 36 third-party developers and publishers, including EA, Activision, Capcom, Konami and Square Enix, would be creating games or supporting the upcoming motion controller in one way or another.

Sony LogoIn addition, Tretton confirmed that over 20 first-party games will be releasing from Sony in this fiscal year, which will no doubt include SOCOM 4 and the announced batch of 6 launch titles (which you can check out in screenshots over here).

You can look over the list of announced developers and publishers set to support PlayStation Move later this year in a handy list below:

In the on-going saga that is the development of Splatterhouse, Namco have re-hired members of the original developer of the classic remake, Bottlerocket, in order to help finish work on the game.

Bottlerocket LogoEarlier this year, Bottlerocket was taken off of the Splatterhouse project by publishers Namco, apparently due to their belief that the game wasn’t hitting the development milestones it was supposed to, and, as a result, the quality of the title, as well as the release date, was slipping.

The Splatterhouse project was then moved away from Bottlerocket to an in-house studio at Namco, who developed Afro Samurai.

Now, according to a Variety report, ten to twenty developers from Bottlerocket are working at a new studio in San Diego to complete the game.

The future of developers Bottlerocket, however, is once again uncertain, despite their assurances that they are currently working on a brand new game, after Splatterhouse and a game based on the Flash, have been taken away from them.

After it was announced that Namco had relieved indie developer, Bottlerocket, of development duties on their upcoming Splatterhouse remake, Bottlerocket’s future seemed to be cast into shadow.

Bottlerocket LogoBottlerocket have now revealed, however, that they are working on an unannounced new title, despite reports that the company had been shut down. A representative for the company said:

“BottleRocket wishes Namco the best in completing their project. The BottleRocket development team is looking forward to turning their attention to a new project soon to be announced.”

No further details have been revealed regarding the title, or whether or not Bottlerocket have a publisher for the project.

The recently released ultra-violent, tumultuous trailer for Namco’s upcoming gory brawler, Splatterhouse, could be likened to the development process behind the game (minus the ultra-violence), as it has been revealed that the original developer for the game, Bottlerocket, has been replaced by one of Namco’s in-house developers.

Bottlerocket Logo A representative of Bottlerocket spread the word that Namco had “showed up with a U-Haul truck, took all their assets (dev kits, etc.) and informed management that the title was being pulled from Bottlerocket.” A Namco representative confirmed news of the split:

“Yes, we have decided to part ways with BottleRocket Entertainment but we are committed to bringing Splatterhouse to the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 later this year.

“At this time, we are not ready to discuss specific development details about the game, and wish BottleRocket the best of luck in their future endeavors.”

The future of California-based Bottlerocket is now uncertain, as another title in development there, a game based on DC’s Flash, has been dropped as the ill-fated Brash Entertainment was to publish the title. Development of Splatterhouse, meanwhile, has apparently been moved to Afro Samurai developer, SURGE.

Game Watch have posted a whole bunch of new screenshots which were released at Nintendo conference today in Japan.

Kirby Superstar DS Screenshot 1

Included among them is some shots of Kirby Superstar DS, which may or may not be a straight remake of the SNES game. Also particularly exciting are shots of the newly announced Fire Emblem DS which looks to be a remake of an early Fire Emblem game from the NES/SNES era. Square Enix’s games are looking beautiful as always (except for the DS Kingdom Hearts with the odd name). Anyhow, this is one amazing batch of games - check them out if you love gaming.

Why do I single out Kirby you may ask? Kirby is awesome, that’s why.

Here are the names of the games shown on that page in English and in order so you at least know what you’re looking at:
