If you are a Smallville fan you will recognise 25 year old actress Kristin Kreuk who plays Clark Kent’s first girlfriend Lana Lang in the popular TV series.
Kreuk also landed the role of Chun Li in the upcoming Street Fighter live-action movie. When asked about her martial arts skills, she replied “Pretty decent. I did karate, dance and gymnastics when I was growing up so I was good at the wire work for the fight scenes.”
She spent five weeks training with stunt co-ordinators for the Street Fighter role. “I don’t know if I could kick your ass if we met on the street but I’m decent at looking like I’m good at fighting.”
Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li is scheduled to be released in 2009.

Following on from the expected success of the upcoming Max Payne movie, 3D Realms has enlisted the help of Scott Faye, the producer of that film, to work on the movie adaptation of another franchise created by 3D Realms, Duke Nukem.
Faye is already knee-deep in the creation process, as he divulged, “I’m working diligently at making a Duke Nukem movie scenario that will live up to the character and its import in the video game world. As is the case with all of my game adaptations, I’d rather not make the movie than make a poor adaptation.” Uwe Boll he ain’t. Faye will be working with 3D Realms head honcho, Scott Miller, as well as working through Miller’s Radar Group, a company dedicated to creating original intellectual property designed to take full advantage of adaptations to other media, such as film.
Created in the early 90’s as a 2D platformer and then upgrading to a ‘3D’ first person shooter called Duke Nukem 3D, the Duke franchise is still waiting for it’s fourth installment, Duke Nukem Forever, now in development for over 10 years. Duke Nukem 3D, on the other hand, is to see a re-release on Microsoft’s Xbox Live Arcade service later this year.
Meanwhile, Max Payne the movie only releases on October 17th across the US, but actor Mark Wahlberg and director John Moore have already expressed interest in a sequel to the film, while 20th Century Fox is said to be committed to the movie, which will receive a large opening as well as a strong marketing drive. Here’s hoping it’s a success.
Jake Gyllenhaal is taking his role as the Prince of Persia in Jerry Bruckheimer’s upcoming film adaptation of Ubisoft’s ‘Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time’ quite seriously.
Gyllenhaal is currently in Morocco, North Africa shooting the film (along with girlfriend Reese Witherspoon) and judging from these pictures taken yesterday he has beefed up somewhat to portray Dastan.
The film sees the 6th century prince joining forces with Princess Tamina (Gemma Aterton from James Bond Quantum of Solace) to prevent the Sands of Time from falling into hands of villain Nizam (Ben Kingsley).
As previously reported the film is being directed by Mike Newell (Four Weddings and a Funeral) while Doug Miro and Carlo Bernard, Jordan Mechner (Prince of Persia creator) and Boaz Yakin wrote the script. Bruckheimer has previously declined to comment on the budget for the film but did hint that “it’s not one of our smaller productions.”

According to Variety Paramount Pictures have signed up to make a movie about the history of Atari with none other than Leonardo DiCaprio starring as Nolan Bushnell, creator of Atari.
The movie is being written by Brian Hecker and Craig Sherman, who convinced Bushnell that they could do his story justice. The movie will follow the story of Bushnell and Ted Dabney who co-founded Atari in 1972 and created Pong and the Atari 2600.
Atari was bought by Warner in 1977 for $28 million and Bushnell was forced out of the company in 1978 following a dispute with Warner over the future of Atari and the Atari 2600.
Jake Gyllenhaal will star in Jerry Bruckheimer’s film adaptation of Ubisoft’s ‘Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time.’
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Gyllenhaal of Brokeback Mountain fame will step into the role of Dastan while Gemma Aterton, who stars in the up and coming James Bond movie (Quantum of Solace), will play “feisty and exotic” princess Tamina.
The film sees the young prince joining forces with Tamina to prevent the Sands of Time from falling into the wrong hands. Bruckheimer would not comment on the budget for the film but did hint that “it’s not one of our smaller productions.”
The film is being directed by Mike Newell (Four Weddings and a Funeral) while Doug Miro and Carlo Bernard, Jordan Mechner (Prince of Persia creator) and Boaz Yakin wrote the script.
Production on the film will start in July in both Morocco and England. It is expected to hit the movie circuit in 2009.
2K Games has announced that Universal Pictures will be developing a movie based on 2K Games’ Xbox 360 exclusive BioShock.
The movie will be directed by Gore Verbinski, director of the Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy. John Logan, writer of Gladiator and The Aviator, is in talks to do the screenplay.
It has not yet been announced when the movie will be released but the sequel to the video game BioShock is scheduled to be released in 2009.
