I am a big fan of the PS2. It’s like an old pet that you really love, that dog that is always by your side. I have spent many hours in front of mine saving the planet and breaking records. The PS2 must be one of the world’s most successful consoles, having sold nearly 140 million units worldwide and only recently being introduced into countries like Brazil. But as much as I love the old dog, you can’t teach it new tricks. Games like MotorStorm: Arctic Edge is the proof that it’s finally time to put the old friend down. It’s not that the game is not good, it is! It is just not good enough.

A great deal of news has come out of SCEA’s annual retail and publisher conference Destination PlayStation, most of it to do with the PSP.
Sony announced that popular titles including Rock Band, MotorStorm and LittleBigPlanet will be coming exclusively to the PSP for the first time.
Rock Band will debut on the PSP with Rock Band Unplugged, which will launch exclusively on the PSP. The game will showcase the PSP’s Wi-Fi capabilities, becoming the first PSP game to include a fully-featured in-game store for downloadable content in the North America and European markets.
MotorStorm Arctic Edge and LittleBigPlanet will launch in the US this autumn. Both titles will be built from the ground up.
LittleBigPlanet will be developed in conjunction with MediaMolecule and offer new SackBoy adventures with the “same play, create, share experience for gamers on-the-go, in addition to brand new levels and environments specifically created for the platform.”
Developed by Bigbig Studios (known for the Pursuit Force series), MotorStorm Arctic Edge sees the brutal off-road racer heading to Alaska. The game will also be available on the PS2 in the US this autumn. Check out our previous coverage for screens and the debut trailer of the game.
Sony of Europe has unveiled a huge line-up for the PSP with popular titles including LittleBigPlanet, MotorStorm and Buzz! coming to the handheld in 2009.
Players will be able to let their creative juices flow in LittleBigPlanet or hit the ice in MotorStorm: Arctic Edge, both previously exclusive to the PS3. You will also be able to challenge your brain in Buzz! Brain of the UK.
Sony also promised that the PSP will become available in new colours this year so stay tuned!

Sony recently unveiled MotorStorm Arctic Edge, headed exclusively to the PSP and PS2. Set in Alaska, the game promises to bring new challenges to players as well as two new vehicles and a first for the series, personalisation of vehicle classes.

After ripping up the Monument Valley and The Island, the MotorStorm festival is headed to Alaska. Sony has announced that MotorStorm Arctic Edge will be arriving on the PSP and PS2 across the PAL territories in autumn.
The new setting for the latest installment of the brutal off-road racer is Alaska, which means new challenges for players such as plummeting temperatures, sudden avalanches, broken ice bridges and three different racing altitudes. Like its predecessors, Arctic Edge will feature multi-route tracks, unpredictable terrain and hostile AI.
