We’ve known for a while that Mortal Kombat will be released on PS Vita during the second quarter of 2012, but videos of the game in motion have been non-existent up until now.
Mortal Kombat on PS3 and Xbox 360 is a great-looking title so I was very curious to see how the game’s fantastic Unreal Engine 3 visuals translated to the PS Vita.
Warner Bros. Interactive and developer NetherRealm Studios have confirmed today the the pair’s latest crushing fighting game, Mortal Kombat, will indeed make an appearance on Sony’s PS Vita handheld.
Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and developer NetherRealm Studios have today formally announced the existence of Mortal Kombat Komplete Edition for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
What’s so ‘Komplete’ about the game? It includes all of the previously released downloadable content in one package.
One million of anything is quite a lot by anyone’s standard, be it toasters, plush toys or money (well, depending on where you live).
One million units of a videogame, however, is a very special number – if you manage to sell or even ship that many copies of your game, it’s safe to say you’ve got a bit of a success on your hands.
So it’s encouraging to hear that three games have recently hit this sales and shipment benchmark, either for the first time or many times over, as is the case with Mortal Kombat, Dead Island and Grand Theft Auto IV this week.
This week’s U.S. PlayStation Store update includes no less than seven new downloadable games for PS3, a couple of demos, tons of add-on content and some worthwhile freebies for Plus members.
The big game on this week’s list has to be Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection ($9.99). This is the first time PSN users can get these three arcade classics in one bundle, and MK fanatics are going to relish being able to earn trophies and climb leaderboards while playing their favourite franchise.
The highlights for me this week include two PlayStation Plus exclusives - the God of War: Origins Collection demo and the Assassin’s Creed: Revelations Multiplayer Beta. The latter will only be released on September 2nd so unfortunately I can’t comment on its quality at this point.
NetherRealm Studios has been releasing new characters for Mortal Kombat over the last couple months, adding new Kombatants Rain, Kenshi and Scarlet in quick succession, all the while teasing a fourth new and mysterious addition to the roster.
Who is this new character that can go toe-to-toe with the meanest, most skilled and supremely brutal fighters we’ve yet witnessed in a videogame?
None other than the master of nightmares himself, Freddy Krueger.
This week’s US PlayStation Store update is crammed with discounted content, an assortment of add-ons for your favourite games as well as a couple of compelling new titles.
If you’ve been waiting for a significant price reduction on Borderlands before snapping it up, now is the perfect time to part with your cash and acquire this great co-op first-person shooter for $15. If you’re a PlayStation Plus subscriber the deal is even sweeter as you’ll get all four DLC packs for free when you purchase the main game.
As promised, the latest downloadable content (DLC) for NetherRealm’s brutal Mortal Kombat is now live on Xbox LIVE Marketplace, as well as the US PlayStation Store – European Store browsers will unfortunately have to wait until later today to get to grips with this water elemental ninja!
If you’re keen to see what you get for your 400 MS Points / €3.95 / £3.19, you can watch a round-up video showing a collection of Rain’s fighting combos, his two Fatalities and his baby form following a Babality:
It’s not often that us Durbanites have an opportunity to congregate en masse at a locally-hosted gaming event. Therefore the “Xbox Masters” this coming Saturday represents a rare occasion where we can go toe-to-toe with some of best competitive gamers in Durban and see how far up (or down) the pecking order we fall.
While we may have caught extensive looks at Rain’s abilities in a recently released gameplay trailer, a new video for Mortal Kombat’s next downloadable fighter has emerged.
Learn more about the “elite but arrogant fighter,” Rain, and how this water elemental ninja came to be with the latest Mortal Kombat character trailer:
The next downloadable Mortal Kombat character has been more fully detailed in a new gameplay trailer, this time featuring the frantic moves of the water elemental ninja, Rain.
Rain is set to become available to purchase and download for Mortal Komabt on July 19th – check him out in action in the new video as he performs all kinds of cruel water- and lightning-based attacks on his unsuspecting foes:
A new Mortal Kombat fighter is now available for purchase and download to extend the game’s roster of combatants, because Kenshi has just arrived on Xbox LIVE Marketplace and the PlayStation Network!
Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and NetherRealm Studios are eager to let everyone know that the promised Skarlet downloadable content is now available for Mortal Kombat, the publisher and developer’s outstanding (and brutal) fighter.
Mortal Kombat may already be an incredibly feature-rich package, but developer NetherRealm Studios is looking to flesh out the experience further with a couple of DLC packs, which include klassic skins and fatalities, as well as a new character.
The latest game in the Mortal Kombat series is a return to form for the franchise. This is 2D fighting at its best – fast, furious and fun. It’s obvious from the outset that Mortal Kombat was created with a level of expertise, dedication and care that few games these days possess. It’s telling that Ed Boon – the director and co-creator of the original Mortal Kombat game released in 1992 – remained at the helm for this project. 19 years later the series has finally come of age, and a true classic is in our midst.
So what makes this game so great? First and foremost, it’s that the developers were not prepared to cut any corners in making a game which would reignite the franchise and leave an indelible mark on the fighting genre. Almost every element you encounter in Mortal Kombat is masterfully executed; from the graphics to the animation to the presentation.
