The first set of official screenshots for The Last Story has been released, and considering it’s a Wii exclusive game, the game is looking incredible, matching Monster Hunter Tri as far as detail and art direction is concerned.
Mistwalker’s next RPG is still expected to release this year (in Japan, at least), and it’s sure to be one to look out for.
You can see The Last Story in motion with a gameplay video over here, and find out further details on the game via El33tonline’s previous coverage, before venturing on to see the rest of the screenshots:
Monster Hunter is probably the most well named game series out there. So often titles are unrelated to the gameplay (for example, Final Fantasy or Super Mario Bros.), but Capcom have stuck with a name that is simple and effective at conveying the core of the game. You are a hunter. And you hunt big monsters. They’re not quite balrogs and Grendels - they’re more like prehistoric beasts – but they’re big and vicious and your job is to take them down. Just like real hunting this requires meticulous preparation, the right equipment for the job, precision timing and a lot of patience.

Capcom’s full fiscal year 2009 financial results were released late last week, and as a result of a bare slate of new releases throughout the year, poor sales of its newer titles and release delays of major titles, profits fell 73 percent compared to the year previous, down to $23.6 million (¥2.2 billion).
Annual sales were also down 27 percent from last year, to $728.1 million (¥66.8 billion). Chief amongst the reasons for the slump in sales was the poor market performance of Resident Evil: Darkside Chronicles on the Wii, and Bionic Commando and Dark Void on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
Capcom has announced that a new Monster Hunter skin will be available for Lost Planet 2 later this month.
The Rathalos Armour from Monster Hunter was revealed a few weeks ago, but unfortunately at that time it was to be an exclusive PS3 for Japan. However, after Monster Hunter fans made their excitement about the new skin known Capcom decided to make the skin available for download in western territories too.
Despite a 46% drop in sales, Ubisoft’s Splinter Cell: Conviction has managed to hold onto the top spot on Chart Track’s UK Software Sales Chart this past week, while the publisher’s other chart dominating game, Just Dance (sales down 31%), remains at No. 2.
