It’s been a long time coming but finally we have a Media Create software chart that encourages plenty of commentary!
Firstly, who would have expected Monster Hunter Freedom 3 HD to do this well (287 829 units in its opening week)? After selling millions of copies on PSP in Japan, Capcom made the smart choice to remaster it in HD for PS3. This remastered version allows you to play online with PSP players via the PlayStation Network application “AdHoc Party”, and another plus is that playing Monster Hunter for hours on end with a DualShock 3 is certainly going to be a lot more comfortable than playing it using the fiddly PSP controls.
Capcom has announced that its cutesy Monster Hunter spin-off title, Monster Hunter Diary: Poka Poka Ailu Village, has shipped over 500 000 copies in Japan.
According to the publisher, Monster Hunter Diary, known as MonHun Nikki: Poka Poka Airu Mura in Japan, has been a “huge success for Capcom in Japan” and “research has shown that roughly 50% of the player base for the game is female” which is an “unprecedented high percentage for a Capcom game.”
We’ve already seen how devoted Capcom is to ensuring Lost Planet 2 receives character guest appearances from other game franchises– the game will be getting Monster Hunter and Gears of War multiplayer characters to play as, after all.
A new announcement, however, has revealed that as of the end of June, that character roster will be expanded to include two Helghast enemy characters from the hit PlayStation 3 first-person shooter, Killzone 2.
That’s right – the Helghast Assault and Helghast Scout troops are making their way into Lost Planet 2 as free downloadable content (DLC) at the end of June. Take a look at the released screenshots and excellent reveal trailer to shake your disbelief below:
