The weekly Tuesday update to the US PlayStation Store is the usual feast of content. New games on the store this week are Top Gun for PS3 at $14.99 and Ys Seven for PSP at $29.99, and the single price update is Monster Hunter Freedom Unite for PSP on sale at $14.99, down from $29.99.

We’re back to getting a good chock ‘o block US PlayStation Store Update this week, with a megaton of new content and special price offers for you to peruse and spoil yourself with.
Highlights include Earthworm Jim HD (and a demo for same), a demo for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, Marvel-themed add-on content for LittleBigPlanet, and new content for Bioshock 2, ModNation Racers and Trine.
That’s not even going into all of the special price offers available through the PlayStation Store Summer Sale, the exclusive content available to PlayStation Plus subscribers, and all of the usual Rock Band and Guitar Hero tracks.

The news that all ModNation Racers fans have been waiting for has finally arrived: The next patch for the PS3’s ‘create and share’ kart racer, Title Update 1.02, will be going live tomorrow, August 4th, at 2:00 am Pacific Time, and goes a long way towards “improving many of the issues the community has been concerned about.”
The patch includes a new ‘casual’ difficulty mode, various fixes, and improvements to load times, while new features have also been added to the game’s online community site to coincide with the release of the patch.

This week’s US PlayStation Store Update is filled with the joys of great new content to tool around with, as Sam And Max Episode 4: Beyond The Alley Of The Dolls, Gravity Crash Portable (for PSP), a bunch of Marvel-themed LittleBigPlanet costumes and a whole host of price updates for games and add-ons make an appearance.
You shouldn’t forget about the demo for Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days, either, available exclusively to PlayStation Plus subscribers for a week.

At the end of a blog post detailing some of the great new user-generated content ModNation Racers players have been creating (some of which is included below), some more information regarding an upcoming patch for the game was brought to light, with the reveal that a ‘Casual’ career difficulty will be introduced to give racers a bit of an easier time.
One of the complaints levelled at ModNation Racers was that the computer-controlled opponents were just a little too deft on the track, capable of trashing human opponents with ease.
With the introduction of the new patch, however, a new Casual difficulty setting will even out the troubles some players have been having with these opponents, as Ramone Russell from Sony Computer Entertainment America explains:
Today’s European PlayStation Store Update will bring with it new and exciting content for both the PlayStation 3 and PSP, with new add-on content, downloadable games, themes, wallpapers and videos.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 players on PS3 will finally be able to get the second multiplayer map pack, Resurgence, while Dragon Age: Origins players can get their hands on a new gameplay episode called Leliana’s Song. LittleBigPlanet gamers can purchase and download a range of Marvel-themed costumes, and ModNation Racers owners will be able to get a Twisted Metal ‘Sweet Tooth’ character and Kart.
Gamers looking for an excellent adventure game will need not look further than Monkey Island 2: Special Edition – LeChuck’s Revenge, and Rock Band and Guitar Hero players have a few new tracks to look forward to as well.

Let’s cut through the usual review introduction fuzz and get straight to the point: ModNation Racers is a karting game that every PS3 owner should own. It is a fun racer, but it is not the best racing title out there. It is kind of cute and pretty, but it is not the best looking game out there. It is not the most challenging game, nor is it the game that Sony will use to show off its powerful hardware. It has cool online features but nothing we have not seen before. What sets ModNation Racers apart though is how all the features come together in a perfect blissful whole that everyone will enjoy playing. And that is its biggest feature: FUN!

The latest content update for the US PlayStation Store has hit, and while it’s not quite as amazing as weeks previous, it’s got a bunch of interesting content, not least of which is the recently announced list of permanent price reductions on a host of great PSP games including LittleBigPlanet, Gran Turismo, Resistance: Retribution and Twisted Metal: Head On.
There’s also new downloadable content (DLC) for Lost Planet 2, as well as the GAC Pack DLC for Dead to Rights: Retribution, in amongst the usual assortment of Rock Band and Guitar Hero tracks, intriguing videos, wallpapers and themes.

Mimicking the recent update to the US PlayStation Store, the new content soon to become available on the European PlayStation Store today is similarly exciting and interesting, with demos for ModNation Racers (for both the PS3 and PSP), a demo for Tiger Woods PGA Tour 11 for PS3, downloadable content for a range of different games, and the usual batch of interesting videos, themes, wallpapers and Rock Band and Guitar Hero tracks.
Also of note are the special price offers currently on the go (Critter Crunch is half price!), and downloadable PSP games in the form of ModNation Racers, Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands and Armoured Core 3 Portable.

It’s another great content update for the US PlayStation Store this week, as the promised PS3 demo for ModNation Racers appears, flanked by an enormous amount of downloadable content for Battlefield: Bad Company 2, Record of Agarest and Split/Second, as well as demos for Iron Man 2 and Tiger Woods PGA Tour 11.
New games on the service today include Rocket Knight, The Price is Right and the second episode of the new Sam & Max season for PS3, while Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands is now available to purchase and download for PSP.
There’s also the usual assortment of Rock Band and Guitar Hero tracks to download, a bunch of interesting videos and themes to take a look at, and a special price offer on Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix (50% off!).

VP of PlayStation Everything Kevin Butler is at it again, this time hogging the ModNation Racers ‘Spotlight’ as he walks us through the creation of his very own ModNation Racers avatar and race course, complete with shortcuts and mischievous traps.
Butler then takes the course for a spin against non other than Sony Computer Entertainment’s pres… well, you’ll see who the PlayStation’s VP of Everything is up against, but suffice it to say, Butler is way out of his league in this guffaw-inducing ModNation Racers trailer.

If you didn’t get a chance to play in the ModNation Racers beta on PS3, then you’re in luck, because a fully-featured demo for the fantastic looking kart racer will become available tomorrow (May 18th) on the US PlayStation Network, with a release the following day (May 19th) on the European PSN.
What will you get to do in this particular demo? If the announcement post on the US PlayStation Blog is to be believed, tons and tons of stuff:

In what is seriously a contender for ‘Best PlayStation Store Update Ever,’ a host of great new content has hit the US PlayStation Store today, starting with a string of great ‘Spring Fever’ price offers on PopCap and Midway games, as well as price reductions on a variety of awesome miscellaneous other games.
Then there’s downloadable games in the form of World Of Outlaws Sprint Cars for PS3 and Harvest Moon: Hero Of Leaf Valley for PSP, demos of Split/Second for PS3 and ModNation Racers for PSP, as well as an absolute gigaton of downloadable content (DLC) for games like LittleBigPlanet, Bioshock 2, DJ Hero, Batman: Arkham Asylum, Nier, Super Street Fighter IV and Skate 3.

Sony Europe has revealed to videogame consumer blog VG247 that ModNation Racers will be releasing on May 21st in the UK and Europe, ahead of the game’s release in the US on May 25th.
The European release date for the PSP version of the cutesy ‘play, create, share’ racing game is still firmly ‘to be confirmed,’ however.
As aside, a hilarious new trailer for ModNation Racers was released just the other day featuring Sony’s ‘VP of Everything,’ Kevin Butler, which you should definitely watch below:
